La'el Collins

I'm not debating whether you're right or wrong.

I'm just saying you'll drive yourself crazy getting upset over a play like this.

My problem with La'el is technique like you said and most of all assignment recognition.

I'm not going to get wound up over a play like this because he is not going to consistently get thrown to the floor by linebackers.
Maybe he won't get consistently thrown to the ground but he is consistently a disappointing player at tackle. The most frustrating thing is that he really limits our run game....he makes it nearly impossible to run Zeke to the right side of the line because he does not get any push in space. People should go back and watch the 2016 Zeke highlights to see how many more runs were going to the right side with Free there.

La'el being off balance and thrown to the floor is something i'm not going to get too upset over. This kind of stuff happens and is why coaches would point to us fans not knowing what we are talking about.

.

:lmao2:

You say that as if it's something out of his control. It's literally an offensive lineman's job to be balanced and not get thrown around. This clip is exactly what he's not supposed to do.

This is what happens when a team stereotypes a player to a position and are too stubborn to admit their mistakes. The team has 2 players that, if switched, might help the O-line. Williams is lacking in power right now, but NOT athleticism - Collins is the exact opposite. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm a big proponent of having my bigger, stronger, but SLOWER guys on the inside of my lines (OL or DL) and having my athletes on the outsides. I believe Connor would've been better off dealing with 260-275 lb. dudes than the 300+ guys he sees inside. Plays to his strengths right now. And, of course, the opposite for Collins. But, that's obviously why I'm not the coach.

My point is if you focus on all of these guys you will find clips like this.

It’s football and the other guy may put you on your *** time to time.

This is not the play I point to and say see he sucks. I’d point to him not recognizing a blitz way before I get upset about him getting blown up 1 time.

I'd trade La'el for a 3rd or above in an instant, would likely bite on a high 4th but would take a little more thinking.

Found this on Reddit page and sorry if it's already been posted...but can we please get this dude out of the RT spot???

What does this have to do with playing RT? He got abused by a LB at the second level. If he can’t make this block at RT he can’t make it at LG.

Tyron has been just fine. Don't even put him in the same category as Collins.
He's not been fine, though not in the level of Collins. He got owned last weekend at least 5 times, and would have had even more if not for holding and tackles, some of which weren't called. He's not himself.

Can we all just stop and see that there are not 8 or even 9 defenders in the box please....just sayin'!

This is a stacked box though....dictated by formation/personell

Yes we are. There are plenty of teams right now around the league that would kill for him.

Fine does not equal great. We paid him big money to be great, not just fine. We can get 'fine' level of play for much less money than he is making.

He doesn't even have that bad of a contract for an OT lol its an average of like $12 million a year with $22 million guaranteed over 10 years. It was actually a complete steal. La'el got nearly half the same guaranteed money on a three year deal despite never performing close to Tyron's level.

His contract is extremely team friendly, this is well known. If you want to go by level of pay then no, we are not paying him to be great. We're paying him to be a good franchise LT, which he is.

Every lineman every game gets away with stuff not called on them, so I don't want to hear about hypotheticals.

That was not the 2nd level....that's part of his blocking assignment from the RT spot. Two steps forward does not equal the 2nd level. The guy is not unfit to play in the NFL, he is suited to play G. He won't be anywhere close to Martin's level, but he's certainly a starter at the G position in this league.

Collins has not been great, but posting an individual play doesn't serve a purpose. The best RT in the NFL could look bad if someone posted an individual play that he didn't handle well.
