La'el Collins?

I'm keeping him, but I'm also open to reshuffling the offensive line and flipping Collins and Conner Williams at left guard and right tackle.

He may not be worth what he's making at right tackle, but could be at left guard. And Williams may lack the strength for guard but may have the feet and athletic ability for right tackle.

I'm not ready to rule it out.
Have to totally agree, anyone who watched him at guard saw what clap and this coaching staff did was akin to the Byron Jones at safety move....total idiocy. I'm no line coach guru but I know what my eyes told me, Collins should be a guard, not a tackle. But that's just my opinion. I believe Conner will make a bad A tackle with some weight gain and strength training.

Dak and JG love some La'el Collins. He's an RKG that "does things the right way."

I doubt he goes anywhere.

I for one hope that the New OC lines him up as a tight end or out wide and see if he got moves...Kellen has been known to call such plays.

Or in the Wildcat - he would be hard to bring down on a QB keeper wouldn't he? And if he doesn't get the first down, maybe he can punt too.

He could be a red zone nightmare for other teams if that were to happen... 6'5" 322, no safety could cover him.

Hmmm. Haven't I hear that somewhere before?

Outside the box (tackle box some might say) thinking... I like it.

The tools we have are good, the tools just are not being used properly by the staff. When this happens, babies are thrown out with the bath water.

Don’t him getting cut
Don’t see him getting another contract either

I was one of the folks that believed he would be a good RT and I still do. I just think he needs an off season working with Colombo.

He was struggling at guard before we moved him.

Maybe he would be better there now but Ron Leary was miles better then him.
Leary played college ball as OG, Collins was LOT and ROT in college so learning new position takes a little time. The one place he needs to work is pass protection but usually your RT is a better run blocker than pass blocker hence why Free was entrenched there for so long.

His natural position was tackle I thought? Isnt that what he played in college?
It is but people fall into that trap that Martin did in one season, he also played LT in college. Collins has the "short" arm syndrome allegedly. He has his warts that is why he will never be a starting LOT.

So did Martin. Very different in the pros, the guy has never had the feet or balance for tackle. He was getting blown off his feet from time to time even at guard.

He should have never been bounced to the tackle position.

His problem is aggression, he sometimes is not patient so quick guys can get him to commit and become out of position.
