Well if we can learn anything from this it is that agents do matter. Lamar seems like a smart guy, but even he has failed miserably up to this point on going at things solo. You can't represent yourself and you cant have a friend or family member do it, especially if you goal is to get as much as possible. Someone who can speak to teams on your behalf, and someone who can give you the direct feedback you need to hear and not just be a cheerleader for your personal goals is crucial.

and most important part,.... has experience negotiating these kinds of deals. His mom is doing the "Negotiating?" what does that look like... he yo, my son Lamar wants 260 million... now give him what he wants.

Honestly, I would agree if this was any other team except the Ravens and/or Steelers, both are at the top when it comes to the treatment of players. Of course, I could be wrong but I do believe Ravens have bent over backward to give Lamar damn near anything wants but 100% guaranteed deal. It's why they used the non-exclusive tag. So he can see for himself, no team is going to offer more.

Agreed. His negotiating was basically what you said plus holding out for what seemed to be an injury he could have played through. I completely understand being cautious before you get your money, but he sort of bailed on the team, at least from the information I have. Maybe his injury was worse than I understand it to be.

lol I'd let him cruise on out of town if I were the Ravens. I get that the QB position is hard to nail down, and he is a very serviceable player (at this point of his career), but I don't think he is worth all this drama queen headache.

I think that's right. Of course there are so many details that we do not know about, especially what their offer truly was, but overall Baltimore seemed to have navigated this correctly from the outside looking in.

Last week the NFL sent out a memo that teams must talk directly to LJ. So, officially he is his own agent. I'd assume the Ravens would want more compensation than the 2 1st the tag would net them, so, it would be cheaper for a team to sign him to an offer sheet that the Ravens won't match

Well, that's not how the franchise tag works unless another team offers him a contract and the Ravens an official trade package.

At this point, Baltimore is better off seeing if a Top 5 team is willing to trade for Jackson so they can ride with Tyler Huntley for 2023 while the rookie gets up to speed.....the Jackson era in Baltimore needs to be over.

They used the transition tag. So teams should have been lining up to pay him if they thought he was worthit. They didnt. I dont know why people are so quick to jump and say bring him in. He has been very bad in the playoffs, has sucked throwing the ball since he won his MVP. To be honest. The only thing he has done is win the MVP. Other than that. He has been pretty damn average. lol.

I am sure we are going to hear it here though how much better than Dak he is. Numbers be damned

I'm not big on Jackson, but the dude won unamious MVP and led the NFL in TD passes with Hollywood Brown as his #1 receiver.

You give him what Dak has on offense and we're going places.

It'll never happen though.

I thought they offered him a really fair deal that he turned down because it wasn’t all guaranteed. He killed his market and probably created a situation where they can’t trade him

Love all the people mad at Lamar here. You think he should look at the contract Watson got and ask for any less? How much better is he thank Kirk Cousins? Daniel Jones?

I sincerely hope if you guys were ever in Lamar's shoes that you would have enough self-worth to push for the amount you deserve to be paid given the market.
