Lamb, Tolbert, Fehoko as the Starting 3?

Maybe they'll do the rb/wr with Turpin. For whatever reason they refuse to do it with Pollard, though I think he's the best hybrid offensive skills player we've had for a decade, and I doubt that Turpin is any better.

There’s some stud WRs in the draft. I wouldn’t give up the first unless it’s for a rare player.

I haven't followed the offseason at all - how has Tolbert looked?

Above average in practice and overwhelm Saturday.......it's still very early but he ain't ready. Keep in mind he was a 3rd round pick for a reason. Yet some are expecting him to start. In fact, at this point, I would argue Houston is ahead of him. He's at least drawing praise from Dak, MM and Jerry.

I think he can do it. It would give our offense the speed it needs, and could help the run game some if he can hit on some of those deep routes.

Brown didn’t dress out for the preseason game, he was kept out, could he have solidified that spot already?

It's a mistake that they don't have a vet WR in here. There's no reason to not give Will Fuller a call and bring him to camp. He won't cost much so if he doesn't work out, the cap implications aren't all that great. You simply can't rely on Tolbert and Brown to be good enough to not have teams completely double Lamb all game long.

People are in love with Tolbert but he's a third round rookie who likely is going to need time to find his legs. Look at Gallup. It wasn't until mid to late in his rookie year that he started to show what he has. And even then, he only had 33 catches as a rookie. Expecting Tolbert, for example, to be some viable #2 is a risk at this point.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Brown.

I've changed my mind on him this season, and I'm hoping he makes it and contributes more on offense.

If Brown wants to elevate his game...NOW is his time. He has good physicals and talent....I just think he needs the reps to get confidence. From a couple interviews, I think he knows it too. We should cheer him on...he could be the redzone threat we need right now.

I don't think being designated a starter is going to mean a whole lot to any Cowboys receiver not named CeeDee. Until Gallup can play, I expect a lot of different rotations at the position.

A vet WR costs you basically nothing at this point. It's an insurance policy in case Tolbert and the others struggle. And what if Gallup, coming off major surgery, sits out a month and then takes another month to get back into game shape? All this talk of blocking younger guys is stupid as well.

But Jerry and Stephen are often averse to admitting a mistake until it's painfully obvious they have a problem. I suspect they are doing the same thing with the swing OT spot. They will struggle to admit Ball isn't working because they picked Ball and took the risk on him and they want people to acknowledge how smart they were in taking him. So they will watch him flail throughout the preseason and then suddenly have to hit the scrap heap for an OT.

It's a little hard to tell right now but the hoco was playing with the guys that probably won't even make the team so I'm not sure that's going to elevate him to a starting role but I would like to see him maybe with the second group I don't know if they're going to play DAC the next game or whatever but it would be good to see who is going to play with Dack and how that interaction

Brown has had too good of a camp not to be in that mix, besides he offers the most experience of any receiver. Tolbert will get his but it won't be as one of the starting receivers.

Brown, gets more catches than the other two combined IMO before Gallup gets back. Dak is comfortable with Brown like he is with Shultz. He will be like a 2nd TE to Dak.

We're going from ending last season with Cooper, Lamb, Gallup to starting this season with Lamb, Brown, Tolbert? Just a *massive* drop in talent.

I'd have Houston ahead of Tolbert right now based on what we've seen, and Brown as well. The first preseason game lowered Tolbert's stock for me. It might go back up against the Chargers, but we can only go by what we've seen, and I think Houston and Fehoko looked better against Denver.

It really only matters what the coaches see in practice with the 1st team QB.

They may already have their minds made up that Tolbert is going to get the start.

On the other hand, you could be right. Maybe it's Lamb and Fehoko, or Lamb and Houston as the #2, 3 until Gallup gets back.

Fehoko had done absolutely NOTHING up until these last two weeks of camp. But he has been looking so good I dont know how they dont play him. I would probably play him, however I think they will play a guy like Brown that gives them more versatility and possession type catches. I think they see Fohoko as more of a deep threat.

Hopefully they will have different packages so they can get him on the field. Could be a good problem to have

Not really getting the whole Brown thing. Never really have.

I agree. If their Defense takes the next step then this will be a good plan. Will also give the young receivers time to acclimate and up to speed
