Lance Dunbar will have to earn back the Cowboys' trust after two fumbles in last three touches

Good Grief. I can't tell if people just post stuff for the attention it draws or actually feel the way they do. You don't cut a playmaker because he's fumbled the ball twice even if they're close to back to back. They're have been players who had fumble problems early in their career who have settled down and were very good RBs. Tiki Barber is one of them. The Wilson kid is likely going to be the same. You address the issue and hope someone that good can work it out. If not then some are right. He can't be trusted so you don't put him on the field.

Does anyone have a good idea how he's pass blocking and getting his assignments down?

when did Dunbar become a playermaker? how did he get this status? Why does he have this status.

This is so so typical of you. I didn't compare him with Tiki Barber overall just the fumbling issue. But of course you know that. They're not the same type of player anyway. I don't see Dunbar as a starting RB in the NFL. He's a complimentary back. But then you know that as well. And Tiki had a very nice long career. Dunbar is still on the starting line. He may be another Darren Sproles or a JAG who is either out of the league soon or always fighting to make someone's squad. It's obvious to me he can make plays though. That's a fact.

he is defintely no Sproles.

Running backs are a dime a dozen, as evidenced by the fact that Felix the Fat now has another starting job.

Either do what you are asked to do or find the unemployment line.

THIS.

Two fumbles--not in the same game--and one game was exhibition. He may have an issue, he may not. Everyone around here seems to like to draw conclusions from limited data.

Potentially. But he'll never be a workhorse imo

i agree, im not saying hes a bad RB, clearly if you make any NFL roster you have talent, but a few could be said for many rbs who jts dont pan out. and plenty have. and now that RBs are getting a shorter lifespan and possibly role, *tho in my heart when one RB breaks it out, and more will, things will change again* but until than, im not going to lose sleep if we cut dunbar and move on. if the team keeps him fine, but if he doesnt pan out, im not going to celebrate whats not there. Clearly a lot more is not there than what is there.

Lance Dunbar has fumbled ONE TIME in the regular season. Keep giving him touches unless he does it again. We need to take a chance because we NEED HIM!

No one knows that. IMO he's quicker and maybe just as powerful. Definitely as fast. The talent is there. We just don't have any production to make any judgments yet. I need to know if the guy can pass block and does he know his assignments esp the routes to run. The latter is likely only some sprint outs, outlets and swing passes which he should be able to do. I don't know about his pass blocking though and even as a 3rd down back he's got to be able to stay in if they show blitz.

Give it a rest. Most of us have seen him make plays when he's in the game. If you mean playmaker as in Michael Irvin then no. You know exactly what I meant though.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. You haven't noticed the way Dunbar routinely carries the ball low and loose? Your idea is probably the same one that the Giants had when they allowed Wilson to lose the game for them when they played us. How'd that work out?

Very fixable. We need a running attack to take pressure off not only our passing game but also our defense. Dunbar is a smaller back with more wiggle and vision and IMHO should get put back in the fire sooner rather than later.

Something I don't understand about NFL running backs having to learn how not to fumble the ball.............isn't that something running backs already ought to know full well how to do in college?

I think the status he does have is sufficient to want to try to get him on the field - 2nd team running back. He beat out Tanner and our 5th round pick, so he showed the coaches something in training camp. Garrett said they had a series of plays drawn up for him, but the fumble didn't allow them to continue down the list.
