Largest key to the game

Overcoming the Giants ability to get blind luck on their side.
Limited penalties.
Ground and pound.
A few turnovers wouldn't hurt either.

Collins at RT.

If he struggles against JPP/Vernon, it's going to be a fairly long game IMO.
I think we chip to his side early on to give him some support. I also look forward to him pancaking fools on some runs to his side tho. He should be able to give a shot good as he gets.

You don't think he plays Sunday?

If he does play I don't expect he will play well. They can give him a pain management shot and send him back out there but he has a high ankle sprain. It is what it is.

People worry too much about this. Tyron will be fine on his own against one of the two, and Collins will get help from Swaim/Witten.

The bottom line is Collins, while not as technically sound, is FAR more athletic than Doug Free. Athletic DEs like JPP gave Free fits. It's not like this will be a huge drop off.

He is not practicing and he is not cutting in his rehab.

I mean the conspiracy theory is great and all. . . . .

I can't imagine what you would gain from tricking the opposition into believing a particular player isn't playing outweighs the benefit the player gets from practicing during the week.

We have the best LT in the game and two other all pros on the Oline. We would be foolish to not protect Collins until we were sure he could handle it, and later in the game we leave him alone a little more. I'm sure our coaches will test all avenues early and exploit the weakness as usual.

Key? Yes. Largest key? I disagree because if necessary, the Cowboys can give him help should he struggle, as they did with Free.

For me, the largest key is the collective success (or lack thereof) the Cowboys offensive line has against the Giants defensive line.

I agree.

That's the biggest factor to me. They weren't 'the Cowboys offensive line' in either of those Giants games. That needs to change.

And I expect that it will. One thing I saw in the preseason that I loved was the use of some no-huddle. I think that's a fine counter to a team using big, designated run-stuffers like "Snacks" Harrison.

Limit the opponent's ability to substitute specialized players like that in an out as they choose. Get a drive going and keep a big guy like that on the field for an extended period of time with no breaks. Or keep him off the field when they do give him one. It will pay off.

biggest one for me on offense is bust their blitzing early. If they want to play downhill all day then Dallas needs to make them pay. Whether its a go route to Dez, a crossing route to williams or zeke but they need to end the blitzing early. If they dont they will be under siege the whole game.

On Defense they have to tackle well, they are not going to get to manning however at the same time he shouldn't have time to run deep stuff so tackling will be huge. I am also concerned about the giants playing in two tight end/fullback sets and running the ball. I think they want to play power football on the ground and it is successful early they will stay with it all game.

If nothing else, I would expect his route tree to be limited. And to see less of the routes that involve serious cuts. And I think that's good news for the Cowboys defense as those routes have been some where he's had his greatest success.

Any limitations on Beckham is good news for the Cowboys.

I expect we are going to give up a crap ton of yards tomorrow night. That will be Rod's plan. Let them move the ball between the 20s and just hope to hold them to FGs, or get one of those things Western called "turnovers".

Cow Pies...that's what the Giants will be after our D is done with them......:lmao2:

On offense it is going to be Dak's ability to read the Giant's defense. He struggled badly to do so last year. He's had 8 months to prepare so I like his chances.

On defense it is going to be underneath coverage vs those receivers particularly Engram, Shepard, and potentially OBJ in the slot. McAdoo is going to try isolate the LB and get the ball out quickly. If successful it doesn't matter how well the rush is doing. Scandrick, the LB, and whoever comes in on the dime need to have big games.
Copy that and good stuff,Fuzzy.
I've gleaned as much from 10 minutes over on a Giants board as although most there are totally discounting our defensive line and lack of pass rush ,their still pretty 'high' on Eli firing the forward passes in 2.5-3 seconds. o_O

Not worried. He handled Mack. Mack had 2 tackles, 0 QB pressures, 0 sacks. Mack > JPP.

I'm actually more worried about Chaz holding up at LG.

The key:
Let's see the defense either cause turnovers, or prevent Giant 1st down conversions on 3rd down.

Also no fluke gimme plays that go in the giants favor. Seems like they happen a lot in these contests - ball lost in lights, receiver stops route, ball bounces off Witten ankle right to Giant player, Dez out of bounds by a fingertip.........

The largest key to the game is putting pressure on Eli, forcing him to make mistakes. On offense the largest key is turnovers and penalties that kill otherwise great drives down the field.
