I was watching one of those top 10 lists this one was top 10 one shot wonders on the NFL network. Larry Brown was 3 I think maybe 4 never this less. He shoudl not have even been on this listed. He played in 3 superbowls had a Ok career. all time leader with Harvery Martin for Ints in superbowls with 3... Yes he had another int in a superbowl other than the 2 vs Pittsburgh. This guy actually had some solid games vs good WR like Jerry Rice. I am not saying by any stretch he was Deion Sanders.. but to be on a list with Timmy Smith and some guys who was QB for the Bengals in the 60's is just stupid.

They had a top 10 RB Bust list via draft and they actually put Sherman Williams on the list.

Talk about dumb. He was actually listed over guys like Kijana Carter...

basically what I meant to say is that they love to throw a Dallas player on a "bad" list.

Larry Brown had a pretty long career as an above average CB - not bad for a guy who was a 12th round draft pick. I think he was with us from 1991-1996 and then a few years with the Raiders.

As others said, they were probably looking for a Cowboys player who had a big game in the SB but was not a superstar.

Who cares... He got lucky with those INT's in the Superbowl, they were RIGHT to him. Neil O'Donnell can't go back to Pissburgh to this day, :lmao2:

Naw, Larry Brown was crap his whole time in Dallas. He was always in the right place at the right time though.

Wow, seriously? No second round pick is that big a bust, almost by definition. It almost has to be a high first rounder.

yeah apparently you just need a star on your helmet to meet requirements for a bad player list on NFL network.

He got burned like a mothership by Jerry Rice right before halftime in the 94 NFC Championship.

tell me any CB that didn't get burned by Rice?

Larry Brown was solid and worked perfectly in Dallas scheme. You don't win 2 superbowls with a scrub CB.

Brown was an average to slightly above average corner who made some plays but it was his 2 int's against Pittsburgh in SB XXX which earned him the games MVP that put him on the map. It earned him a nice size FA contract with the Raiders and he bombed in Oakland. Cowboy fans will always have alot of appreciation for him for those 2 game saving int's in the SB but if you look closely at his career I feel his name on that list was justified.

I didn't see it but that would have to be Greg Cook. He was the top rated passer as a rookie! He wrecked his shoulder during the season and was never the same. The kid could have had an amazing career if not for that injury.

If you look up his stats they won't wow you unless you look at his average per attempt which was 9.4! That's 8th all-time for a season and he was a rookie! You also have to remember that the leagues (NFL & AFL) were mostly run-oriented at that time.

He was a big kid at 6'4" 220 lbs and could run as well as pass. This was also only the 2nd year of the Bengals' existence so they didn't exactly have an all-star team surrounding him. He had great touch on his deep passes and could rifle the ball when needed.

I only remember watching one game he played, against the Chargers. He threw for 327 yards and 3 TDs and ran for another TD as they beat San Diego 34-20. The kid looked like a 10-year veteran out there and the Chargers were a good team but it was only his 2nd start.

Paul Brown was the HC and Bill Walsh was one of the assistant coaches at the time. They agreed that Cook could have been one of the best ever. The fact that he started 8 games AFTER he tore his rotator cuff is amazing!

Without a doubt one of the greatest "might-have-beens" of all time.

Note: Dr. Z lists Cook's 1969 season as one of "The 13 best single-season QB performances of all time":

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writers/dr_z/12/12/top.qb.seasons/

Granted that was written in 2004 but still...

I couldn't agree more with you. He was terrible and got beat like a drum regularly. I can remember me and my boys constantly complaining about his play. He just lucked up at the right times but his overall play sucked.. Now, I like him as a TV guy though, he's very good....

You must have missed the 1995 season then because he was VERY GOOD that year. 6 INTs, 2 returned for TDs, another in the playoff against Green Bay, then the two INTs in the SB. Not too shabby to me. He also had 43 solo tackles compared with Deion's 25.

Not too bad for a 12th round pick.

No, I haven't missed a Boys game in over 30yrs. To me, Larry Brown was terrible. Regardless of the numbers you've posted, he was consistently beaten all the time. 12th round or not, he was lucky to be in the right spot at the right time but his CB play was not good at all..

If that were true then he wouldn't have been starting.
