Last years posts at this time

We signed a former pro bowl DT last year and sadly I don't think there are any DE's besides Hardy better than Mincey left.

So comparing last year to this year is pretty far off unless something drastic happens with post June 1st signings

Someone with some time on their hands should pull up and repost some of the doom and gloom posts about the lack of players Dallas signed and how bad they will be in 2014. 12-4

Last year the team was coming off an 8-8 season yet again this year the team is coming off a 12-4 season that just missed playing in the NFC championship...expectations should be higher from the fans all the way to the owner...you can't compare the two off seasons IMO...

We basically locked in Dez , our starting RT, our WR3.
Melton was a massive red flag and question mark last year.

Plenty of time to fill in the blanks

And somebody else compile the statistics on teams who have spent big in free agency, like the Philly dream team from a coupla years back and the Washington Commanders for years.

I'll say what I said last year: Choose to be optimistic. Enjoy the ride. It'll make the offseason much easier. It's the NFL. You never know what's gonna happen.

What's beyond maddening is that we go through the same thing every year. How many times have we all been giddy the first 1-3 days of FA only to learn it was fools gold? Now we're coming off a 12-4 season where we have our core in tact less Murray who's price we decided was too high. We have our core coaching and our FO is now more prudent. Our QB is also prepared to participate in all offseason functions. Patience!

The fact is, we don't have a core. Murray was what made the machine run. He made it easier for the defense, and that is a fact. Darren McFadden hasn't had a 100 yard game in 2 years. We lost our offensive line coach, as well.

We have lost a lot of depth in free agency, especially on defense.

On average, its overwhelmingly and indisputably a recipe for disaster.

There have been rare exceptions though

Please don't call out the experts. Thank you!

Last year we only had to beat 8-8. This year we have to beat 12-4 and a playoff win. Completely different perspective.

In fairness, if anyone could have told us we would run Murray 390 times for 1800 yards a lot of people would have changed their predictions.

Nobody knew Red it in him to not throw the ball.

This is why I thought 5-11.. And romo being hurt... glad I was wrong..

some of us did

Murray's production will be replaced
Oline will tick
agree about McFadden but were not through

Sadly, this perspective is exactly what I think is motivating Jerry's and Stephen's inaction. See, we didnt do anything last year in free agency until bargain basement, and we went 12-4. But it is flat out wrong. It is wrong because, last year, we had a 3rd place schedule and caught lightning in a bottle with Demarco's career year and the Zach Martin draft pick, which covered up a bad defense. To think that it is going to happen again with a first place schedule and playing a revamped AFC East (Suh, McCoy, Revis), as well as Seattle, is naive. We have done nothing to improve a rotten front 7 and have lost the guy (Demarco) that covered up how bad it was. I was not in favor of paying Demarco. But that was because I thought his money would go to paying Hardy, Sheard, Hughes. But we've signed not one DL. Hence, this year's panic at the CZ is so much more justified than last year's....

In terms of the schedule, we played a second place schedule if I recall correctly, and the schedule is only different by two games within the division. Sometimes, a first place schedule ends up being slightly easier than a second, third, or last place schedule...we never know from year to year how teams are going to play. The entire division has to play the AFC East, so that portion of the schedule is a wash. Overall, the slight difference in schedule doesn't make a lot of difference in divisional competition. I don't see where our divisional rivals have improved a lot so far and I actually think Philly has gone backwards a little (JMO). I also think our FO has that draft thing figured out, finally. As for the rest, I'll wait a while before I start panicking. All JMO. :)
