Last year's trade with Buffalo

LOL don't call Steven Jackson a product of the system unless you've watched him play. He was a first round pick for a reason you know, 4 year starter I believe. He's a great fit for the Rams and will have a good/great career, especially getting to split carries with Marshall Faulk (not to mention learn from him).

Jones and Spears are definitely talented, hardworking guys. I think it will be real interesting to see all these young guys develop here in Dallas over the next few years.

Their NFL stats so far ............

Steven Jackson has played in 22 games with 1332 yards and 10 touchdowns
Julious Jones has played in 13 games with 1219 yards and 10 touchdowns

lol their stats are almost the same ............. with Jackson having 9 more games to make them in ...............

if they would have had the same amount of games to play in ....... Jones's stats would blow his out of the water.
You failed to mention that Jackson has 272 carries to Jones' 309.

Jones is a more complete running back. As BIG as Jackson is, have you seen him pick up a blitz? Tyson Thompson is better than he is, and he dances to the hole rather than hitting it up in there.

Now I'm confused-- I thought beaver shots would get you in trouble in here...

Currently the Cowboys are in a good situation as far as RBs are concerned. But dont tell me that you think that Jones is better than Jackson right now.

You could say better than Kevin Jones or Greg Jones, but not better than Jackson.

IMO, he actually may fit better in Dallas than in St. Louis.

Yea in NINE more games ..... which means he had a lot of "Troy Hambrick" backup like yards (which are always easier to come bye) ...........

I love how you so called fans try to tarnish every single cowboy player who looks good ........... ala Ware, Spears, Jones, Witten, ect ect .............

.

why not? what evidence do you have to support your argument other than Jackson had a big game the other day and Jones has missed 3 1/2 games in a row?

other than that, there is no evidence...the numbers show Jones has been more productive...Jackson has played in 22 games and has 3 100 yd performances...Jones has played in 13 games and has 3 100 yd performances..Jones has gained at least 72 yds in all but one start (12 games), Jackson has 11 games where he failed to gain even 50 yds...Jones has the same number of rushing tds (10) in his 13 games as Jackson does in 23, and Jackson has only 5 more runs for first downs...Jackson only edges Jones in yds per carry and total number or receptions

To break it down even further, if we don't do the trade with Buffalo then maybe Buffalo never gets Losman and never releases Bledsoe.

So Bledsoe + Julius + Spears + Ryan >>> S. Jackson

In all honesty I think Julius > S. Jackson. He just needs a chance to get healthy and the line to get some cohesion - I think he would have put up big numbers against Seattle and Arizona had he been available.

..as you mentioned about the Bills using our pick to select Losman and then prematurely souring on Bledsoe and releasing him so we could sign him..

..this was the ultimate bonus from that 2004 draft day decision to trade them our #1 pick and ultimately accelerated their thinking about their future QB and at least for now, has paid off way beyond anybodies expectations with Bledsoe's coming here without having to trade for him and seeing his elevated play here in Dallas.

It's almost as if, in trading the #1 pick to the Bills in 2004, that they in essence thru in Bledsoe in the deal that day, but it was delayed one season in coming.

I doubt any of us could have foreseen that happening and in the end, if Julius Jones returns to form and Bledsoe continues to play like he is, Spears develops into the player they want him to be and Ware gets more development, the 2004 trade with the Bills and the domino effect it has had for us with the infusion of talent to this team..

..is going to rival the trade with the Vikes back in the Jimma era of Hershel Walker for their slew of picks and players that got the winning going back in the 90's.

It's got that magnitude of importance.

Time will tell. It takes 2-3 years to really know where this all falls.

But we'd all have to say that given the way things have worked out to date, we are way ahead in doing what we did and in drafting and signing who we have at this point.

My one point that would put a period on this whole sequence of events would be if we could find our QB of the future. Unfortunately, this is still the missing piece of any future for the organization to keep things moving forward after Bledsoe ends his days here.

If it's not Henson and not Romo, then we are investing alot of time and money in them and having Bledsoe here and running the offense with an eye toward them learning with an eye to them eventually taking over is probably wasted effort, as neither looks to be starter material, but backups only.

That said, I guess we'll have to see how Lady Luck treats us with Bledsoe staying healthy and us being able to develop or draft/sign the next QB.

Buffalo gets Losman
Dallas gets Bledsoe, Marcus Spears, and Julius Jones instead of Kevin Jones.

Any way you slice it that's a KO punch for Dallas. If Losman ends up being Buffalo's long term starter, then the trade works out for them too.
