Besides QB rating, which is boosted by throwing 1 yard TD passes (as opposed to handing off like most QBs who aren't stat-obsessed do) what possible reason would anyone say Rodgers is the best? It sure as heck isn't Super Bowl rings or playoff performance in general as there are a number who outdo him there.
Aaron Rodgers advocates would look at maybe 3 stats to make their case:
- Rodgers has the largest Yards Per Attempt (8.2) in the NFL's modern era. If you beyond the modern era only Sid Luckman and Otto Graham have longer YPAs -- barely....
- Aaron Rodger's interception % is the lowest in NFL history for QBs with more than 500 attempts
- Those two stats taken together don't compute/jive/whatever you want to call it. The QB who throws the most deep passes in the modern era by definition should not have the lowest interception rate in NFL history.
