Late Game Thread

From someone at extremeskins: "This is the same NFL where the Vikings gave up a 1st round pick for Sam Bradford. We could definitely get at least a 1st and 3rd for Cousins.":lmao:

Winner tonight hosts the Giants, the loser goes to Seattle.

so Connor cook vs Texans pass rush, texans might have a chance to win a playoff game.

It might also have helped that Aikman could hand the ball off to a top 3 all time running back.

So what. It was also a different era where QBs didn't throw the ball as much meaning their ratings would be lower. Dez just passed Irvin's TD mark but isn't even close to being better that Irvin was. He simply played his entire career in a pass happy era where Irvin played when balance was considered key.

Guess Dak ain't really all that after all then, what with Zeke and that OL, right?
A 104.9 passer rating as a rookie and YOUTH make him the obvious future. That's not the argument we're making here.

although i will say that part of me wants to go the route of the cubs.

they had to play the giants who were known to get hot when it mattered and win, but the cubs stopped it. we can do that to eli and the giants in the postseason. i love romo, but he seemed to be that bad luck. new team, new attitudes. who knows? altho i think romo could still do it if he had to come in.

It's not about an argument, it's about your logic. On the one hand you devalue what Troy did because of his surrounding cast (with no independent criteria for doing so), but then weigh the supporting cast less (again, without any methodological basis) when assessing Dak on one season. Nice to have it both ways when you need them to make your arguments, isn't it?

If the NFL had a "Best of ___" format, I would be with you

Anyone else feels Brees's been there the last few years just to stack up his own stats? I give that he is a great passer and a very good QB .. but I always felt he is selfish in that h always wants to throw the ball first, second, third .... tenth eh would let the run go ...

You're equating team stats to player stats. They are not the same thing.

That question doesn't make any sense.

Yes it does, as much as a counterfactual regarding replacing Troy in the 90s lineup. I don't care what you pick, QBR, rings, whatever, if you stick to any one criterion you end up having to defend some indefensible positions. Give it a rest.

you can always rack up the high passing yards in garbage time. thats all it is with brees. the saints haven't been relevant in years and I'm more than excited for him retiring in the next few years. theres something about him that i just cant stand.
