LOL!.. dude you bring back memories.. I became a Cowboys fan at the age of 5 when they drafted Bob Hayes.. We had just moved to Florida from MIssissippi and to my 5 year old mind they had drafted a neighbor so they became my team. Now we only had like on 13 inch B&W TV back then and 3 channels to watch so I didn't really get to watch many games. Hell I didn't even know they were on half the time cause I was out playing pretending to be Bob Hayes against my neighbors. I didn't TRULY fall in love with them until that 1970 year when they made the run to the Super Bowl on that ridiculous defense. Even though they lost that sealed it for me. Then when they made Roger the full time starter that took it to another level.

It wasn't till a few years later that I started to realize that the Cowboys were ALWAYS ON! Every Sunday.... to the point where everybody started calling CBS the "Cowboys Broadcasting Service." I think I was in junior high by then.. and though I never cried when they lost.. I was pretty miserable after each loss.. Still am. The thing that REALLY got me was when they got knocked out of the playoffs. I was generally no fun to be around for at least two weeks after.. A full month if the loss was in the Super Bowl. I scared to think about what it would feel like if they got to a Super Bowl and lost after all these years.. I might not even be able to go to work that following week.
Bob Hayes was my favorite player. I use 22 and 74 as a code for my locker at the gym

There’s so many pop ups and ads in that link I didn’t even see the top 10 that was provided .

Last offseason, despite the Cowboys shipping out Amari Cooper, the team was typically in the top eight or so of the rankings and considered a valid Super Bowl contender. This week, post draft, we have a power ranking from veteran NFL observer Peter King, and the Cowboys have slipped down to tenth in his ranking.

Man I was barely 1 in 1971 if that. . I fell in luv with Dallas in 1973. I can still recall being just 3 then...something special about the man in the weird hat and number 12. I would actually cry when we lost games until I was 11-12 years old. It irritated my Dad to no end lol. God rest his soul.
We won the state championship the same year that the Cowboys won their 1st Super Bowl.

They certainly were a valid contender last year and they should be this year as well.

The mind boggles at the damage Bob Hayes could do in today's NFL where they can't touch him after 5 yards. Dude been out of the game 50 years and there still aint no DB who could run with him. And if you lay back in zone you gotta tackle that speed freak in open space. Good luck with that! The thing a lot of people forget about Bullet is that he was a running back and kick returner in college. As such he was not someone a DB could just walk up on and jam. Assuming they were brave enough to try that in the first place. He had major jukes and was extremely powerful up top so he could shake off attempts to jam him.

I think he scored a TD on something like one out of every 5 or 6 touches during his playing days. And that was with teams concocting all manner of defensive alignments to stop him. In that first Super Bowl season in 1970 dude had 10 TD catches.... on 34 receptions. And averaged 26.1 yards per catch. That's just stoopid. Can you imagine him in this pass happy era!?!?! He might threaten 2500 receiving yards and 40 TD receptions. Then again if he played for the Cowboys the league would pass some sort of rule to stop him if the other teams couldn't.

Peter King is an idiot and a hater. Always has been. Always will be. Sorry for sounding so ugly, but that guy is a bonafied Cowboys hater. I honestly don't understand why any Cowboys fan listens to that moron?
He is an idiot and a hater for doubting our team and your QB.
Had he given us a ranking as top 2 you'd be making mash and me fave, pot toast, and invite him to dinner.
After dinner you would sing an Ave Maria to him and massage his back..

Settle down, Paco. I know you miss Romo. Take it easy. No need to parlay unto us what you would do for him.

It’s a lot like the annual complaints we get from our fellow Cowboys fans about a “lack of respect” for the Cowboys. Which always makes me laugh. Because in any team sport, respect is earned based on results. In the NFL, respect is earned through playoff wins. Until we string together multiple playoff wins in a season, we won’t deserve that much respect.
Yet everyone in the league has the Cowboys game circled on their calendars..................FACTS

Good, we never do well with high expectations. We usually overachieve when expectations are low.

RFK stadium would literally start shaking. Those fans hated Dallas. Good ole days.
The entire NFC East. When RFK was shaking , it was pretty intense. Those 80’s Teams for Washington was like my 90’s Cowboys. Gibbs is one of the Greatest

Maybe not but the media has resented the Cowboys since NFL Films dubbed them "America's Team." People always act like the Cowboys called themselves that name even though it came from an outside source. It's also hilarious how they all fall all over themselves to have the games involving the Cowboys on their network and how they tease Cowboys-related stories on all of their talking head shows. The Cowboys are basically the meal ticket for 90% of the network sports shows out there and they know it. I don't consume a whole lot of their drivel because it's literally the same ole tired tropes over and over. But in fairness until the Cowboys win something.. none of this will change.. so it is what it is..

Add in all the other team fans that worry about the Cowboys as much as their team.

I relished it all. I am begging for a return to greatness like that time. Thats why its been so frustrating. Its been 27 years and many fans seem like they are settling for falling short every year. Mike Fisher tells us hey we are pretty good last 2 years and we fans are spoiled. That thinking has spread like a cancer and its sad. I feel like its about goals and greatness. If this isnt the goal, what are we doin? Landry and Staubach oozed greatness and expectations in their sleep. They demanded it. Someone needs to tell me why I am wrong wanting us to be elite again. I think its realistic.

"Cowboys offense fizzles against the #1 D in football"

So does that sound like something strange to you? The #1 D in the NFL slowing down offenses?

Some act like this is some kind of desperately odd thing to happen and that its means something drastic about our offense.

Just means the Niners are a better team than us. Their defense is better than our offense. Our Oline has been the #1 biggest issue. Both games we couldnt run the football. We also had trouble passing. Makes perfect sense against the #1 defense in the NFL.

So until we fix the Oline, not much is going to change in that regard.
Agree. But our defense, very well could be the best in the league and flip the tables on SF and Philly
