Am I misinformed, but isn’t it no longer necessary to designate a player to return?
If they go to the IR to return they must make the initial 53. If you put them on before they miss the season.

Yes, there is no need to designate a player to return, if placed on IR after the 53.
I do believe they changed the rule for 2022, they must miss at least 4 weeks instead of 3 as it was in 2021.

I am not sure if there is a limit to how many you can activate from the short term IR. I think it was a no limit last year, not sure if that has changed this year.

It is.

Washington is a baller.

You'd have to be a nitwit to think Houston is better than Washington.

6-10 weeks from the day he was injured.

He could be back by game 2 or 3.
I like Washington alot but I just want that roster spot NOW. His family lives near me. Great family and hes a great kid. Talented. But never fully healthy.

My fear is we will cut Smith and Hendershot, MALIK DAVIS and they will get poached as we attempt to get cute and stash them on the PS. All 3 are deserving of the 53. I rather cut bait with KJ and try 2 stash him on the PS. I like the Collins kid as well. I think he is WAY better than Ball and needs 2 be on the 53. He can be the swing. I would really be fine if we cut Ball altogether.

I think the only one we really need to worry about being poached is Hendershot.

I can live with the other ones being poached.

We're going to have to risk a few players on waivers to get who we need onto IR.

This is just nuts. I get Gallup. He will be back like week 2-3. But Washington might not see the field til November. Waste of a roster spot. This means we are cutting Brandon Smith. This would be massive ineptitude.

They could cut a vet player as Watkins or Bashem. Since they are not subject to waivers, then sign them back as with a handshake deal.
Therefore keeping Smith protected on the 53.

Davis will be a stud. He is a well rounded back with great feet and instincts. He plays with power and shiftyness. His lower body control is special compared 2 rico. Sets him apart.

Goodell secretly offered an additional draft pick to teams that would not release OL.

Washington can be back pretty soon.

After his injury, they said 6-10 weeks.

By game one, it'll be almost 6 weeks. So he'll play this year if they keep him.

The coaches know that a James Washington with a broken foot is still better than a healthy TJ Vasher. You guys just wait. This guy can play.

I'm well aware of Davis. But RBs are easy to find. Tight ends, not so much. I would keep Hendershot. It's like getting gifted a free draft pick.

Plus, we can place Shampklin on the IR. He's no slouch either.

In any case, both of these players are 2nd string guys, even Hendershot right now.

I agree that both have starter potential, but it's really is easy to find RBs. Cowboys found both of these guys as UDFAs. They can do it again.

The thing is, most teams have players like we have that they also want to keep. It's not like he's just so rare that they can't risk him on the wires.

I think Davis, Houston, Shampklin, Smith can all hit the wires then come back to the team.

Hendershot . . . someone claims him after what he put on tape. That's an end zone player.

In case anyone is wondering.

This is the latest FA signings, and no waiver claims yet, no OL since around August 20th, and those were no names,
https://www.nfl.com/transactions/league/signings/2022/8

Latest waived, no one claimed yet
https://www.nfl.com/transactions/league/waivers/2022/8

Teams hanging onto the OL for now. See what the next 2 days brings.
Maybe Vasher clears and gets on the PS.

I think you are getting your hopes up. There are FA Olineman out there right now that Jerry could sign that would do a good job and he hasnt dont it. So either he will sign no one or he will sign some scrub that wont make a difference.

It's more likely that we'll cut some player we can easily bring back, like C.J. Goodwin, to clear a roster spot for Washington. If the team wants to keep Brandon, it can do that despite putting Washington on the initial 53. I doubt that we keep Smith, though, but I think he's a good bet to end up on the PS.

I agree on KJ. I’m not convinced teams will claim him given his off the field problem(s). But then, he may not be willing to sign a PS deal here either.

Where do you get I am getting my hopes up. I was just giving where fans can get information from, to keep an eye on things. Pointing out at that time posted, were no OL available on the waivers yet.

He also has the same injury that killed Dez and Julio Jones.
