Latest on Lions WR Roy Williams

Anything in the works could very well fall apart and they could hang on to him in the vain hope that he will re-sign with them without them using the Franchise Tag.

He won't.

It'll either end up with him traded for compensation, or it will likely blow up right in their faces.

2008 or 2009, one or the other, I expect him to be a Cowboy. I've been saying it since September.

Hmmmm, get Roy, Pacman, then trade the whole rest draft for DMac ;)

How would we fill the other 5 to 6 roster spots?

Not dissing your idea, just asking.

Hey I got some pads....

Im joking man.....maybe not....

I'd let the lions take either #22 or #28. There will be a CB worth taking at #28. Cason maybe. Then in the 2nd round, take the best RB left. Call it a day.

You don't give up a first round pick for a guy that will probably be available next year. That wouldn't be a good trade from our side.

But I sure would like to have RW.

I totally agree. I wouldn't go after him if it would require a 1st rounder. I'm hoping if a move is made for him that it would only require a 2nd rounder and a player. Maybe Carp, Akin, or Dexter Coakley.

Personally, I'd love to see a trade for a guy like Boldin this year. Use TO-Boldin-Crayton this year while giving Hurd one more year perhaps and Stanback a chance to get some reps.

After this year, sign Roy Williams, let TO walk. Then the WR situation is ridiculously set for years.

I disagree. Considering the need and player involved, its a perfect fit. I think it would be a mistake to just assume Dallas can reel him in next year anyway. They could tag him and he goes nowhere. Not to mention, what is someone trades for him while your waiting for him to be a FA.

It takes care of one of the bigger needs on the team and also provides a player that can play into the future. Given the current options at WR in this years draft, I would do backflips if Dallas could get the deal done.

If they want a 1st, then I would try to work out a deal for a 1st in exchange for Williams and a 3rd. I would not make a trade for Williams straight up for 1st round pick. A 2nd straight across or Williams and a 3rd for a 1st. JMO.

And there is also no guarantee that we can rsign him either. We are not trading for RW at that point we are trading for RW's contract for one year. It works both ways.

I personally not a big fan hes been injury prone since his days at Texas and I dont see the trend thats been going for 6 years changing anytime soon.

He would sign here. No, I'm not guessing on that.

All this talk about wanting to be a Lion for life is BS, Roy is counting the days till his contract expires and can get out of purgatory, I mean Detroit.

The Lions are not going to franchise him next year at probably $10 mill tender? That pretty much nukes their cap for the offseason, just dont see Lions doing that.

I would offer up our 2nd for Roy and maybe throw in a Akin if he is not sent to Tennesse.

I dont think I give up our 1s for a player that is going to be a free agent and will sign with either us or the Texans next year. Maybe we can get 1 more year out of Glenn and Crayton can get his head out of his arse we can wait till next year to get Roy.

I do trust that you have an inside view on this but that also leads me to believe that unless they franchise him he would come here anyway.

He might but I don't think that is a reason to not trade for him and get his services this year.

I'd hate to end another year wishing the team had a true #2.
