Lawrence Needs To Go

Lawrence has the cowboys in a rough spot. He's not living up to his contract and could be difficult to trade because of that. Restructuring is an option, but you'll be paying him seasons after he's gone at that rate. Lesser of two evils when you're up against the cap this bad. Just have to suck it up and restructure, because I don't see them finding a sucker to unload his bloated contract on

So Parsons, Gholston, Basham? Yuck.

Parsons is one of the best in the league. We've had years where our best guy was someone like Basham. Much like WR and S, we went into the season with a roster full of short timers at DE. Cut Lawrence, and we free up 20 mil in cap to improve at DE and elsewhere.

Restructing DLaw just throws more good money after bad, in this case 19mil.

Restructure guys you want to keep for being good value, cut guys you want gone for being bad value.

How convenient, you left out some playoff games.

And as predicted, your evaluation of him as a player begins and ends with "sAckz."

"If you're satisfied with 0 sacks and 1 QB hit in *DLaw's last* 4 playoff games, you'll be satisfied with anything."

Feel better now?

"Sacks aren't everything" is not an argument that Dlaw is worth his salary.

Time to move on from DLaw. Overpaid for his performance.

Yeah, it's really not that complicated, and no one is putting forth an argument to the contrary. It's all just "sacks aren't everything!", as if sacks are nothing.

My only problem with an outright cut Is you leave a hole you still have little to no money to throw at. Considering it's a real possibility Gregory walks too that's a bitter pill to swallow. But, if you do go that route, you could hire the recently released Wink Martindale, switch to a 3-4 and move guys like Osi and Gallimore to 5 tech. Bohannon can be your nose. Puts a premium on LB but should be easier to find then pass rushing 4-3 DEs

LOL at people wanting him gone.

You’ll be the same people whining and complaining when we run Basham and Golston and Armstrong out there as our best DEs.
Actually you know what? No. Simply because then we'd lose enough games right away instead of holding false hopes up until the end of a season. DLaw, Zeke, Dak and all the supposed star players of this team are just good enough to beat up the little kids on the school yard.

So why not get rid of them and have an honest season for once? Since we're getting small market team results anyway, why not try having a salary structure like a small market team? At least fans knew what's coming, and every else would be a pleasent surprise? I'd like to see what Lamb can do without a Cooper of the other side distracting DBs. And if guys like Micah can't get us close to the SB then trade them for 1st round picks and start over before they reach FA.

No more big contracts until proven success on the field. Only start building beyond rookie contracts when we have a winning class together. Like they did with that 90s team.

Maybe we need another 1989 season to become great again?

Lawrence is a lot better than you guys think. Sure 20 million is alot. But he’s a damn good player. Parsons next year will be the main focus. Lawrence stays! Restructure his deal saves 12 million too. So yea

My guess is that he's gone after 2022. His cap hit is 27 million, but his dead cap is 19, so I doubt they move on from him yet. We can tell what will happen by what Jerry does or doesn't do in regard to a restructure. I highly doubt they restructure his contract.

Gregory can't be trusted. Rest of the guys are JAGS. If i'm letting one walk its 94.
The narrative that Gregory can't be trusted changed when ever the marijuana rules changed for the players. If I may ask of you to please enlighten us here on the Zone to what else has Gregory done to not trust him?

I keep hearing how his run stopping ability makes up for the lack of sacks.

Or that sacks are not that important; pressures (a very subjective stat) are.

I don't care what excuses his fan boys come up with

HE NEEDS TO GO.

I agree. His pass rush and Run stopping has failed time and time again in big spots. move on

Knew it wouldn't be too long before his name came up.........is there anybody worthy of remaining on this team next year or is a Fantasy Draft being proposed?
Also trying to figure out the criteria that places a player from being OFF the Fall Guy list?........Zack Martin, Parsons, Anger, Lamb, Wison, Diggs,........anybody else?

Agreed not interested in kicking the can down the road. He probably won't take a pay cut, would you?

We're probably losing Gregory too.

Face it, our front office screwed the pooch gambling it all on this year. I'm sure they do it again this year, restructure a bunch of deals they shouldn't and keep us in cap hell so they can have some cash to play with the billion dollar fantasy team.

Let's face it.......something was going on with Gregory on game day. This is an example when you just hand him a cup.
That just cant happen, not in the biggest game of the year. Hence why he cant be trusted.

No he doesn't his base salary of 19 million is not guaranteed. Tell him to take a pay cut or tell him to walk. A baby like D Flaw is guaranteed to walk and that should be fine by everyone. Very similar situation to Dez. Aging declining injury prone head case due a massive unguaranteed base salary. Solution is simple.

He changed once he got the big contract. He was a real good player when he was trying to impress them to get that contract, seems to have put it in neutral ever since.

Not this year. Cap hit is huge. Maybe dump Elliot and D-Law after this season.
