Lawrence Needs To Go

Whether you like him as a player and what he can do for you as a player MUST be viewed through the cap implications of that player.

Tank has basically been an albatross for the Cowboys in terms of cap hit vs production. He does not really get anywhere near the production you should expect based on his contract numbers
He's overpaid, yes, but that doesn't diminish his ability, only some peoples' perception of what his ability should be.

I’d love that. I’m not sure you can even do that anymore.

We can’t cut his pay without an agreement with the player to do so. (And it might involve a restructure to get within the rules (iDK).

I am not for lowering his cap hit and increasing his cap number as time goes on, that just makes it impossible to cut the player later on.

Lawrence's deal is terrible for Dallas, and I have been a advocate of cutting him to save his salary in the past. But what the playoff game showed me is that this team cannot win with offense as long as Dak is the QB. I like Dak. He is a good guy and a good QB, but there is a problem that shows up in big games. I believe it is something that will never go away. So the answer is to build the defense, and the running game. They already overpaid Lawrence and Dak. It is too late to fix that. At this point they have to accept what they have and start focusing on how to get the most out of the players they have.

Gregory and Armstrong are free agents and the likelihood is they will not sign both of them. In fact, there is a good chance they will not be able to re-sign Gregory because he will get an offer he can't refuse ad the Cowboys can't match. It would not be a good idea to cut Lawrence if Gregory and Armstrong both leave. Having Golston and Basham as the only returning DEs would be a disaster.

Cowboys have a lot of organizational decisions to make in 2022.....Turnover in coaches, they are currently 13mil over the salary cap and will be forced to restructure or release players. Then they have 21 FA to deal with,,,everyone from Michael Gallup, Tony Pollard, Shultz, Cedrick Wilson, and lot of really solid defensive players. The problem is DAKs contract is schedule to count 34mil against the cap...then add in 27mil for DLAW and 18 for Zeke, and 20 for Cooper and you have a recipe for...Cap Casualty stew.

DLAW is the most glaring Cap problem the cowboys have and the easiest to deal with.

Let me remind you,.... DLAW counts 27mil towards the 2022 cap.... the 2nd most expensive player on the Cowboys roster....only person higher will be DAK which will count 34mil in 2022

I doubt he will see 2023 based on h

Someone should use his words from a few years ago regarding getting 10+ sacks to be considered elite. Then ask him what his value is if he hasn't gotten 10 sacks in 3 years? I'm thinking this is his last year with the Cowboys unless he ends up signing a modest extension that spreads out the cap hit.

Go for what?

Hes an all around defensive end, he sets the edge on runs forcing the rb to cut in, he keeps the tackles or guards from reaching the second level to make blocks,he plays screen passes better than any DE in the NFL hes just not a 15 sack kind of guy thats why you have gregory and parsons

Lawrence will get you about 8-10 sacks and do all the dirty work that makes a defense function,

No-Show Lawrence is good for about 3 decent games a year. He just never decides to play well in the games that truly matter. He’d be a HOFer if we played the Giants or WFT every week

I keep hearing how his run stopping ability makes up for the lack of sacks.

Or that sacks are not that important; pressures (a very subjective stat) are.

I don't care what excuses his fan boys come up with

HE NEEDS TO GO.

Definitely overpaid for his production. Not worth $21M per season.

Must be his agent. Because that is garbage. ANY GOOD DE should do all that. HE IS PAID TO DO MORE.

No freaking way should the Cowboys extend DLAW....dude did not show up the playoffs, always hurt, and has an excuse why he doesn't play good. Oh, and some will say look at how he performed against the Washington Football Team....or he is a great run defender....dude was a DUD in the playoffs...and once again inured all year....all he did was steal Jerry's money when he got his 2nd contract....

DLAW counts 27mil and is past his prime,.... H*** NO to DLAW
He reminds me of Jay Ratliff the rat bastid
