Pretty much sums up all free agents.

Dallas shows interest. Player shows interest. We go cheap and they sign elsewhere
I would argue that this season may be different as it's technically the last of CAP HELL and as such we can make signings and pro-rata the bonus. This is what stopped us last year (with Amari, and thank goodness Randy), it's not so much year 1 that's the issue as every contract is low, it's the following years that cause CAP hit.
Still dont think Wagner's the signing (nor LVE, though he may be a consideration with a home town discount), im sure we'll be expecting Clark to step up and take the MLB role.

He wants to play for a winning team. Rams aren’t going anywhere at the moment. Before people complain about Dallas, they won 12 games two years ago and won 12 games and a playoff game last season.

I don’t see him going to the east coast or a cold weathered team. He could end up back in Seattle or a team like San Francisco or Las Vegas. I still believe he stays out west and remains close to his family.

If Dallas signs him, the defense instantly goes from really really good to an elite bunch.
If SF signs him holy crap Dallas chances just got worse if they have to face them in the playoffs again. However, SF already has Warner at the MLB spot with Greenlaw at the WLB spot so Wagner would have to take less money and play the SLB spot in SF which I doubt he is looking to do either.

A guy like Wagner helps Parsons , the knowledge what he brings to the table 7 days a week being in the Frisco Taj Mahal . Jason Peters so I’ve heard had the same effect on Tyler Smith . Wagner would be a nice off season pick up , lessen any LB draft looks I suspect .

This is what happens when you go all in like the Rams did in 2021. They need cap space.
Yes but they did win it all at home to christen their new stadium. It was all in for the owner, GM and HC and now they pay the price for that.

How long does it take Los Angelinos to lose interest? A recurring problem in that market and they've got the Chargers to contend with as well.

They might as well deal Ramsey and maybe even Kupp and start the rebuild and look for Donald to hang it up. And since Booger is friends with their owner, he should be talking about Kupp to him. Forget Beckham.

More of a well known name than a talent at this point in his career.
Still worthy of a starting gig at the right price, but his best days are behind him now.
Wagner was a beast in his prime years.
He literally was an all pro last year and the highest rated LB in football.

But sure.

Jerry and Stephen's philosophy says they won't sign him because he will help this team immensely . Jerry , "We can't have that" .

Sure bring him on board provided the price is right and the guarantees are low. Dude is gonna be 33 next season. He needs to come cheap. 2 years max. 6 million per year max. Only guarantee is first year. Something like that maybe.

Given that he signed for 5-years $50M with $20M guaranteed last year with the Rams and will be 33 years old this June, what kind of contract would secure his services seeing as how this will probably be the last deal he signs (unless a 1-year deal is done) given his age.

If not a 1-year deal, and coming off a highly productive season, Wagner is probably looking at a deal in the range of a 3-year $30M fully guaranteed deal if Dallas truly wants him to sign. The AAV is on par with what he signed last season and the guaranteed money exceeds his Rams deal and is such that currently places him just outside the Top 10 highest paid LB's and allows Dallas some front-page news which Jerry loves.

(The money to pay Wagner would come from Zeke either being released as a post-June 1st player or his current deal being dramatically lowered from his current $16M cap hit to more like $5M.....so Jerry gets to keep Zeke in Dallas which satisfies both their egos while Zeke looks the star for cutting his deal to bring in an All-Pro player for the defense......something Dak should seriously consider doing to show it's about winning).

when glass neck breaks this year and it will, people will be crying why didn't we get him? but glass neck played okay and needs to stay for a six pack and free parking next year.

LVE is considered a true MLB but in a hypothetical world wherein Dallas is able to sign Wagner, would Quinn transition to more of a true 4-3 defense instead of a 4-2-5 type defense? Also, could LVE play SLB if re-signed to an affordable deal (which lessens his pounding in the middle but forces him to cover TE's) that allows Parsons to play the WLB spot....thereby creating a situation where offenses have to focus on either Parsons or Wagner blitzing.

Just a boring off-season question.

Bringing in Wagner helps this defense immensely. If cutting Zeke brings in Wagner. It should be done today. You can always cut Zeke and bring him back at a lesser deal (see Fletcher Cox).

Not bad. Anything that disguises what Parsons is doing and doesnt have him lining up at edge rusher 90 percent of the time I am game for. Guys like Micah need to be moved around. Blitzed of course but not banging heads with LTs all game. Wagner Parsons LVE is a nice LB trio, and dont forget that Damone Clark will have a full offseason. He will also be a player. So you can theoretically. Not pay LVE. Bring in Wagner and have Parsons, Wagner, Clark. Williams and Tank from the edges.

That sounds like a formidable front 7 to me.

I don't think our Cowboys are one piece away. He's going to want the last check.

Very surprising. He was very good last year, and its not like he is ancient
I think he was ok, had some good games and some games where he was not a factor. At least from the games I seen him play. He would not have been worth the same money here.
If he had the same type of season here, he would have been roasted , and the fans that roasted Jerry for not signing him, would have said Jerry sucks for signing him.
Then again those fans have extremely high expectations on top FA's.
You know how that works here.

Not sure how realistic it is to actually run a true 4-3 in todays game, but I like the idea, and with a dual threat like Parsons there may be a way to pull it off.....might even be more of a 3-3-5 on certain downs?

I think LVE could take on any backer spot, his best asset at this point in his career probably is his coverage ability so I don't really see the downside. Bigger issue is probably just how realistic it is to fit both LVE and Wagner into the cap.
