Just watch. Terrible performance at Middle LB by Damone Clark. He has no business playing at that position, arguably even on defense. He is afraid to attack, hit hard or even wrap up. Cowboys need someone else at Middle LB.

Damone has terrible lateral agility and a bad motor. He was never going to be good.

Man we were all duped into believing Damone Clark and Jabril Cox were going to be dominant LBs here
Not all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All you have to do is read scouting reports. If a player's lateral agility is bad, he will be limited w/ a huge bust potential. Reggie Robinson, Eric Scott, and a host of others. Just read the negatives, and it if it says poor lateral agility, that player has a low ceiling.

There’s a built-in pass for Clark given the neck injury he came back from, so I’ll resist questioning his “heart.”

That said, if you’re physically compromised you shouldn’t be on the field.

You can almost see him easing up as he approaches the ball carrier to make contact. Overshown didn’t play a fantastic game either but you can see the ferocity he plays the game with. Clark plays like a 200 lb safety.

I watched up until the Montgomery td (mostly on mute - I’d rather trust my own analysis then listen to a guy who is admittedly not a football player) and so far it looks like a lot of nitpicking, and I need to emphasize I’ve been one of Clark’s biggest critics.

  • first play he does hesitate to shoot the gap, but Diggs also has the blocker on his backside already, there’s no way the runner should have got to the edge against either player.
  • second play is completely on 27, we’re back to the Byron Jones days of CBs having no idea where the ball is.
  • third play, for Lord knows what reason we run a DT stunt on an obvious run down. The tackles take themselves out of the play and now Detroit has 4 blockers on 3 defenders, you cant make this up

I stopped at Montgomery’s TD. The whole defensive line got blown 5 yards off the ball. I mean sure if I wanted to I could find a critique of Clark on the play but when your line is consistently getting whipped and the coach is consistently getting outschemed whats the point?

Is Kendrick’s the prototypical size MLB he looks small ? I see him getting buried in blocks quite often as the running back is blowing by the DT’s. Long term Kendrick’s especially past 30 is not the answer to the quiz either .

I hate to say this but the entire front 7 can use help in the draft and or FA . Overshown and Liafau look set on the wings at LB but Dallas has really no depth .
Man I wonder about all these guys they all look small out there. I think Kendrick’s is the prototype size. Probably gonna have another defensive based draft next season and a new DC….

Yeah I’m certainly not gonna praise Clark for his play last season but this game I can’t say he was terrible.

PFF is a joke. Whomever they got judging tape, they get it wrong many times. This armchair QB got it right in what he reviewed.
It may be a joke but I think the truth is somewhere between pff and what this guy is saying. He’s going hard. Him letting up is a criticism sure but he was reading the plays well. Terrible is a stretch we saw terrible from him last year.

I wouldn’t want to tackle people full speed with a fused spine either.

But you’re right. That means he really shouldn’t be on the field at all.

It’s a shame for Clark. The back injury ruined what could have possibly been a great NFL career. But the cowboys need to move on.

Clark = Jeff Heath. They are both good when they are right there to make a play before the ball carrier can make a move. But they are terrible in space as they simply don't turn well, which means they are easy to put a move on.
