I haven't posted in quite awhile. With the passing of my father, and me getting stressed out being Executor, my mind has rightfully been on other things for the most part. I followed Dallas' draft completely a week ago for a nice break.
I will say this - I really like where the Cowboys are regarding the linebackers.
1. I still have Parsons more of a linebacker than an edge rusher. I think playing solely as an edge rusher might diminish his career. I think he is most effective when he lines up anywhere Dan Quinn puts him.
2. Overshown will develop into an immediate complement to defense. The human missile will make his share of plays as he grows into Dan Quinn's system.
3. Damone Clark played extremely well considering coming off neck surgery, with .no training camp, making several big plays the latter half of the season. Imagine what he will be with a year of strengthening and conditioning with a half season's experience.
4. Vander Esche I feel is still highly needed in this system. He was so helpful with Damone Clark lining him up when he was learning on the fly last season. I sure haven't given up on LVE.
5. I still wonder if Jabril Cox has gotten over his knee injury his rookie season. It looked to me that he played with no confidence last season. I am expecting a breakout season.
6. Devon Harper is a big question mark to me. I would love to see him develop as with everyone else. I'm just wondering if he gets the chance.
Now here's the BIG thing with all these linebackers: Dallas is going to have guys like Mazi Smith and the rest of the lineman keeping opposing offensive linemen off of them for the most part. That's what I'm really looking forward to.
