Jayron Kearse 2.0, with a higher ceiling.

The linebacker on the Super Bowl champion Chiefs was a Big 12 defender.Big12 defenders - LOL
We'll see. Fingers crossed.
If anything, I see him being used more as a DE like Micah. He’ll likely play more true LB than Micah too. It’s clear they don’t really like Jabril Cox.
Clark is a completely different story. The fact he saw the field so quickly last year says a ton.
He basically leap frogged everyone on the roster the moment he was healthy.
I don’t see Overshown being in competition for a “linebacker”spot.
I think he’s going to be used like a chess piece and he’ll never have a true position.
Quinn runs a hybrid defense that basically just matches up with whatever the offense is doing.
I think he will be used more like Donovan Wilson with some edge rushing sprinkled in.If anything, I see him being used more as a DE like Micah. He’ll likely play more true LB than Micah too.
Thats what I'm seeing as well, Overshown is behind Clark for the time being.I like Overshown, but I think Damone Clark is LVE's sidekick.
Nice analogy man, I agree. In basketball they sometimes talk about a player being a three level scorer that can score at the rim, midrange, and the three point line. I think the Cowboys might think that Overshown is a three level defender that can cover in the secondary, play the traditional LB role in the middle of the field, and impact the line of scrimmage as a pass rusher. There's not many defenders that can make an impact at all levels of the defense.

Parsons rushed primarily from a LB spot his rookie season. They want a player in that role now that Parsons is at DE.If anything, I see him being used more as a DE like Micah. He’ll likely play more true LB than Micah too.
why? Whats the incentive? They never have to earn anything because Jerry is so busy telling the world how these guys are this and that. The star on the helmet doesn't have to be earned anymore, its given. Until things like that change, then it will be sporadic results.I'm waiting for just 1 of these hyped linebackers to do something. Cox, Clark now him. Prove it somebody
Totally agree. Good thing DeMarvion Overshown didn't truly stand out until this last 2022 season and fell to us late in the 3rd round. Cowboys lucked out. Now it's time for Overshown to learn from Dan Quinn and truly let his talent grow into a good hybrid LB for us.I really like Overshown.
College defenses usually stay pretty vanilla, so it's fantastic to see that Overshown has already put on the field in a Dan Quinn hybrid role. And he was good at it! He's a high-end athlete, so it's a clean projection to the NFL from there.
I think he's worth more to Dallas than to other teams, frankly. Most teams have to project how much his size will translate (or not) to a traditional Will role. But Dan Quinn has had so much success with Overshown's body type before. We already run two safety-backers like him in Kearse and Wilson, so there's no risk that he's too small for us. And likewise, the rover role he played at Texas muddles his traditional LB projection, but looks perfect for the Cowboys.
The only risk I see with him is that he only put up one big season in 3 years starting, and it's when he was at his oldest and most physically mature vs opponents. He'll lose that leg up in the NFL. But that's also why he was a 3rd rounder....if he had put up two big years at UT, he'd be a top 50 pick.
I liked Cox coming out. I watched him in college and he was a player. That doesn’t always translate to the nfl thoughI didn’t like Cox, I liked Clark some but didn’t love his game tape… but Overshown I like. He will be put to good use in this defense.
He’s an easy mover and can do anything you want him to do. He should be great in coverage.
He does need to be a better tackler but that about all that he really needs to work on. Just learn the scheme and work hard and I can’t imagine him not being a good player.
Quinn can have fun with this kidI really like Overshown.
