LB Poll

Let their play in practice decide it. Shanle has played decently in Dat's absense. I thought Dat was making more big plays before he was injured. I thought Shanle made more in a limited role.

I would like to hope that the defense started to gel and the addition of a playmaker like Dat would only help, but if Shanle is outperforming him in practice, more power to him. Let him continue to play.

As much as I like Dat, he probably will be a role player sooner than we probably think. I just am not sold on Shanle being the long term replacement there.

So my answer: I dunno.

Dat played yesterday.

Kinda sad no one noticed.

He didn't play very much though. I thought I read in dime only. The only time I saw him was obvious passing situations.

Those of us that care more about the team than our causes noticed.

He also stopped a player dead in his tracks short of a first down.

when BP feels Dat is back at fullspeed, physically and mentally , he will once again be the starter.

No doubt. Shanle should see some playing time...But Dat will and should start!

Its clear Parcells has already done what I suggested earlier and of course my opinion wasn't well taken...

But Dat is now JUST the nickle/dime backer...Another prediction...BINGO!
:D

Really I expect Burnett to start earning PT with Al being out for the year...

Everyone is in love with Dat...He gets hurt...and now he's a nickle/dime backer...I believe he's a little more than that.

then let's agree to disagree. i guess i'm just one of those that believes there was a reason Dat began the season starting over Shanle. now ask yourself what that might be.

i'll give you a hint... Dat's better than Shanle.

Shanle "maybe" is a better fit for what our new defense is asking of an ILB. I'm not so sure Parcells is going to feel justified in benching Shanle but time will tell.

Play the best players.

Dat is better than Shanle, no doubt about. Remember all the plays he was making before he got injured?

Shanle gets better at stuffing hole's, pass coverage and preventing plays. Shanle gets to QB better and more stout at point of attack and can handle Oline. Dat struggles with that.

I'm suprised at the poll results. Its going slightly Shanle's way. Might be tough to justify taking Shanle out with his play.

Actually folks.....we need them both for us to be where we want to be in Feb 06......

We have given up 3 TD's in the 4 games Shanle has started........ 3-1 in Dats absence.
Its about stuffing plays and pass coverage that Shanle adds. Its the plays that don't happen? eh

Good point - Great to have depth. We lost Dat and didn't miss a beat. We will need that depth as season goes on.

Maybe it because guys like davis and James and the rookies are improving nors. Ever think of that?

All those plays?
He got one sack that was designed for him to come free (Stunt) He certainly didn't overpower anyone.
He got one pick off a tipped ball...
He got one fumble recovery that someone else caused...
He played EVERY down before and made very few plays...

He is now playing nickle, where he isn't overpowered so often in the run game...
Shanle is better in the 3-4, thats why he is starting...

you guys, HH and Nors, are incredible, this reeks of an agenda

it's clear Parcells is still worried about Dat's comfort level over his stinger, he didn't play last week against Seattle because he hardly practiced, and when you don't go out for a full week of practice, you don't play, the week before the AZ game was his 1st all-out practice week since the injury, and with his concern over Dat's comfort, he eased him into 20 plays against the Cards to see how he'd respond, the only thing keeping Dat from regaining his starting spot is the doubt in Parcells mind that Dat isn't comfortable, he may have eased it with the 20 plays he had, or not, and will be watched closely again in practice before the 14th, but I GUAR-AN-TEE you this, Dat will be back at his regular LILB roll in no time
