+ their salaries....highlights 1 of the glaring problems with how the cowboys built their roster and why it will continue to be a problem.



Obviously 2013 is slightly disingenuous because Harvin just happened to have a good super bowl despite Lynch being a big part of that offense...but even Lynch didn’t have a crazy contract.

And quarterbacks who get huge contracts haven't won a Super Bowl either.
 
Fournette was drafted top 5 and given a huge contract by the Jags. If Zeke went to another team and won a Super Bowl, people would be saying we should've kept Zeke. It's not easy to build a Super Bowl team. You can say just invest everything in the defensive front-7, but Washington does that every year and they still suck. You can say invest in the O-line (after seeing how much Mahomes struggled), but we did that every year and never won anything. Heck, we drafted two interior LBers high and they didn't pan out like the Bucs' LBers did. It could've been a whole different story if Lee/Smith/LVE were terrorizing the league. The Bucs has a mix of good draft picks, productive veterans, staying healthy when it counted, and having veterans wanna come on the cheap to play with Brady.

And neither had a good superbowl, they had 45 and 39 yards each.

Wow, that's very telling. Zeke has certainly fallen off the last couple of years. Still a good back but not living up to his contract for sure.
 
Paying Zeke was definitely a mistake. Not only the amount but the Cowboys let him strongarm them to pay him early.

Zeke may very well be what is further stopping the Cowboys from paying Dak. Very few of the new beefy contracts the Cowboys have handed out have been worth it after the fact. Zeke's might have tipped them over the edge.
 
No one player/position = super bowl success.

Football is a team sport, to win you must have an overall good team.

Stop with the common misconception that having just the right QB or RB is going to give you super bowl success.
 
12 is a sample size too small to say much of anything in a 32 team league but it's hardly a stretch to say it "appears" you get far better value drafting R3/R4 RBs every couple seasons and occasionally adding a low cost vet for a playoff run.

RB and WR are the easiest positions in the NFL to fill with replacement level guys.
At WR there is a real value in being above replacement level where RB appears far more questionable.

All that said Marcus Mosher has an agenda and is pretty much basura.

Dallas has paid Zeke and they are going to have him at least two more seasons.
Using that as some major talking point or crutch as to why they can't get a to a SB would be pretty dumb.

Mahomes, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Eli, Wentz/Foles, Wilson.....

None of them were on big contracts when they won the Super Bowl.

Once they got hugely paid, the roster talent lessened, and they haven't been able to do it again.

Kansas City's roster is about to erode slowly. They 've had their 3 years of about a 4-year window. Next year might be it for them with a roster like this.

They tried to pay Dak a nice sum of money
 
Running backs should not be paid a lot of money if you hope to be competitive. Spend that money on defense.

Emmett Smith is still the only rushing leader to win a Super Bowl as far as I know.

This should be based on yearly leaders for the Super Bowl winners, not just that one game. I don’t think the chart would change much, but it would be a better representation in my opinion.

That is so very true
And what people tend to not get is “team”
It’s not about the best QB,RB, DE
It’s about 53 guys who play well together and compliment each other
