Yeah, Jordan, Bird and Magic were my three also! I remember Bird as a great smacktalker who could ALWAYS back it up. One game he played entirely left handed. Another he said “I feel like 43 tonight”. He promptly went out, scored 43, then took himself out! He made IMPOSSIBLE shots, too!

Jordan

Magic, Kareem, Olajuwon and Bird to round out 2-5 for me. It is laughable to have Shaq over those two Centers, he was good but brute force is not a skill.

Not close.

LeBron might be compared to Pippen or Drexler or Worthy.

Recency bias, as usual, is strong in this thread. Shaq belongs nowhere near those guys. I'd take David Robinson over Shaq. Dave was a wizz on D, just didn't have much of an O game. Also Russell and Wilt. Possibly Moses Malone and Parrish.

I think my biggest criticism for Lebron, is his softness, the flopping, and always wanting to be the guy who brought everyone into the game, while he should have taken over. He had the ability to be the unquestionable greatest, but his constant reliance on "not being a ball hog" I think cost him championships. This is the opposite criticism that is had for Kobe and Jordan.

Jordan is the GOAT until he is not.

Jordan consistently passed off to the open man. One of the things that made him so great.

My All Time Top Twenty…DOESN’T include Lebron:

Jordan
Bird
Magic
Kareem
Wilt
Kobe
Russell
Shaq
Duncan
Curry
Nowitski
West
Havlicek
Jokic
Dr. J
Wade
Durant
Hakeem the Dream
Garnett
Baylor
Including Durant over Lebron?
Durant is a bigger choker who only won with a team that would’ve won without him.
Durant esp choked head to head against Lebron.

I'd put Pippen and Worthy in over Durrant, but that's debatable.

Tarpley would be on the list if he had been able to overcome his coke/alcohol addiction.

Also, I always find it funny how no one remembers just how good Garnett was.

Tarpley? Tarpley could have been a borderline All Star of not for his addictions. All time great? Definitely not

I think Pippen and Worthy were great players—just not “Top 20” great. I put them on a tier with Wilkins, Malone, Iverson, McHale, Cowens and Chris Paul—players like that.
