He made a probowl at guard. I think that makes him extremely valueable. What if Johsnon plays much better next year? Beleive it or not Bentely is a much better guard than Larry Allen (at this point in his career) or Marco Rivera.

Bentley can play guard. As a matter of fact I would have rather had the Cowboys gave him 8 million instead of a guard that is over 32. I'm sure there were alot of fans that would like Jerry to give Bently an 8 million dollar signing bonus to have him on this team.

Rivera has accomplished much more in his career than Bently. Not even close actually.

Not true. They have both made the same amount of Pro Bowls despite Bentley being much younger. Rivera did not become a starter until later in his career. Bentley has started from day one. Bentley has already proven himself and should be entering his prime.

I was suggesting picking up Bentley and letting Allen go. I was trying to say that Bentley is a better investment than Rivera.

His salary is something like 7.1m but his SB left is only like 3.5m.

So we save 3.6m by releasing him.

Allen would be cut if we could sign Bentley. I wasn't suggesting keeping three guards. He isn't getting any younger or more importantly any cheaper. I actually think Bentley will be cheaper than Larry Allen. Allen is one of the highest paid lineman in the NFL.

No his contract calls for him to make over 7 million dollars each year in the final years of his contract. Most teams place the high salaries at the end of contracts so they can cut a player and not pay them. Allen is no different.

That's my point. Allen is making 7 mil this year. Bentley would be getting paid significantly less than that his first year. Probably 3-4 mil.

Oh I misunderstood you. I thought you said that Allen would be cheaper.
Yeah I agree. Allen makes too much and is no longer worth the salary.
