Chicago does sound like the perfect fit.

How about Chris Simms though, is he going to make Tampa's roster? I can see him playing in Chicago too. Hell, I can see Simms as a better option for us than Brad Johnson (now that BP is gone).

Is he healthy?

I argued with people left and right about it too...I loved the T-New pick and honestly never thought Leftwich was worth a top-10 pick

Carson Palmer is the only player I'd have rather had in that draft over T-New

David

Andre Johnson and Kevin Williams are also pretty dang good.

While we're at it, let's talk about what an idiot Jack Del Rio is. So he has so little faith in Lefty that he doesn't even want him on the roster for opening day ... but he's still going to make absolutely no contingency plans all offseason about bringing in or drafting another QB, declares Lefty his starter all offseason, starts him every preseason game, gives him all the first team snaps ... and then you cut him 10 days before the season starts. Now you've put all your eggs into one rickety, scary David Gerrard basket.

It was reported after the draft that Del Rio fought to draft Quinn, but was ultimately overuled by James "shack" Harris who selected Nelson.

I guess Del Rio doesn't get to shop for groceries, although I think their fans would feel a whole lot better if they had Quinn as opposed to a new free safety.

Especially a team that is as solid as they are defensively, they usually will draft middle of the pack thus not many chances to draft a top young QB.

I admit I wanted Leftwich- I watched that game where he broke a bone in his leg and had his O Linemen carrying him down the field.

Seriously, I wonder how much that piece of film raised his draft status. I used to think professional NFL organizations were above that kind of subjective sentimentality, but that's before I found out that if you have the last name of "Manning" you're pretty much guaranteed to be the first pick in the draft, no questions asked.

Jack Del Rio played for the Cowboys and when he left, it was on bad terms or something happened between him and the organization but for the life of me I cannot remember what happened?

Anyone know or remember anything about this?

I still wouldn't be upset if Carson Palmer became a Cowboy.

Given the state of that franchise when he got there, I would say it's more accurate that Palmer made the Bengals than vice versa.

Lefty was never going to be Palmer. He's a poor man's Drew Bledsoe.

Trade Leftwich within the division? Doubt that happens.

The jags aren't even in the same conference, much less the same division.

Leftwich's delivery is horrible.

His hand looks like it hits the ground when he is "starting" his winmill wind-up to throw the ball.

Is it true that defenders were reading his delivery because it was so long?

He does 'wind up' when he throws...

Yeah, a perfect example of how overrated arm strength is. When the defender gets a 1.5 second jump on the route because you have to wind up like Goose Gossage to throw, it doesn't really matter how hard you throw the ball. I'm always amazed how much we still overrate arm strength and underrated release.

Yet he still threw more TDs then INTs in all but his rookie year.

And that's with the sorry WRs he had in Jax. Not bad, IMO.

Unlike the extremist Dbair, I think he can still be a GOOD QB if he goes to the right situation.

Also, the most times he was sacked in any season was 25 times. Not bad for someone with such a slow delivery.

That's why I have to think that something happened behind the scenes. If nothing else, I bet when Leftwich was told about this, he hit the roof and demanded to be released or traded. And maybe they thought he might be disruptive enought that they should just go ahead and let him go. If they get anything in a trade (which they should), it would be better than letting him go for nothing next year.

I like him, and I still do. Crazy how that all happened, and yeah, Del Rio will probably not last another season there with Garrard starting.

Rack - I do find it funny that you manage to blame so much on Leftwich's receivers, yet think that Vick was to blame for Atlanta's inept receivers. I personally think Leftwich>Vick, but I think both teams had the worst receivers in the league last year.

I didn't blame "so much" on Vick or Leftwich's WRs.

I pointed out that the WRs in Atlanta looked better now (that doesn't mean they're good, just better). It could be cuz of more exp or cuz of Vick.

I am remember that draft well, For a while I thought about Lefftoverwich but the weight and injuries scared me off. Newman was the smart pick at the time.
