Kitna made progress with Dak. It was obvious the beginning of the season. But for some reason, he has regressed.

At times he can zip the ball right on target then the next throw is far off target.

Franchise him, see what the new staff can do. One year from now we will know if it's time to go in search of a new QB.
Watch his feet. It's a dead giveaway. Good footwork usually has good results in the pocket at least.

But his completion % has always been pretty good in part because he often (not always) won't throw it unless he sees it. Risk averse. Not like when he entered the league but it's still there to some degree.

If you wait until you see it, then it will also end up making the "window tighter" by some analytics, though it should not have been. So that too results in a deceivingly high tight windows accuracy stat.

It also affects WR timing and produces more drops. Cowboys WRs don't just magically all of sudden have drop problems, all at once. That's impossible.

Don't shoot the messenger, but that's how I see it and I think it's correct.

I'm a fan and think he's improved but has a ways to go still.

As long a he plays against teams with under .500 records to pat his stats he’s good he is a average at best against the winners. He will be the QB for a while because of JJ stupidity and never win the big ones because the DC can’t put enough elite talent around him to prop him up. JJ mismanagement and Daks sub par play and 10 years down the road you will still be blaming everyone but Dak as the DC will still be has-beens because JJ will strap the new coach with Dak. Sad so sad. D 17 pts Capt Dak choker 3 FG , if this season proves anything it is that Dak is what he is a good back up and the scouting reports were correct, he isn’t a long term NFL starter and like it or not JJ thinks he is so the future look bleak as we all know how poor JJ is when it comes to judging football talent . JJ support of Dak should make you understand just how poor a choice Dak is for the DC.

He is 17-14 in his career against .500+ teams and top 15 defenses. This year was an outlier.

If most of the QBs in this league would have to live in this scheme they would be on IR. Dak is a big guy and has taken so many hits. These QBs have been dropping like flies this yr with injuries. They wouldnt survive having to wait for routes to open up the way this offense dictates
Of course. Dak is the only QB for this offense. Lol

Dak is a franchise QB. He’s our future and I believe on him. I’ll have half the people here on my side when he wins the first two games next season. And as soon as the cowboys lose, those people will be saying he’s a trash QB. That’s how this thing works.
But I’m Team Dak and will remain here.

If the first 2 games next season are the Giants and Skins Dak will shine as he did the first 3 games of this season.
But let me ask you the following.....what good is a QB who can only beat DOG TEAMS?
Exactly!!!!

Yes lets, Dak is an NFL top 5 QB and will be here for years to come.
ok.. lemme just ask one question.. do you, in all honesty, actually think that Dak is better than the following:
Tom Brady
Aaron Rodgers
Russell Wilson
Patrick Mahomes
Lamar Jackson
Drew Brees

Now I realise you can debate a lot (like a lot) of others.. but those guys are clearly.. like very very clearly ahead of Dak. So best case scenario he is 7th.. best case.

good young QB who should continue to get better...he's gotten better each year.
he's the franchise QB and they're gonna pay him...how much I have 0 idea.
but he's getting paid.
bad games this year....yes.
but he showed massive improvement this yr vs last.

i'm more worried about our tacklin' and regression of our defense.

Need a tissue? Are you going to be ok? Dak is not going anywhere, and you know it.
While that is true, it still doesn't change the fact that fans that have the eye, and that's definitely not all fans, but the eye that is open and can evaluate make a very relevant point.
Im a firm believer that the fan base that holds stats up as the highest form of talent evaluation, those fans have no eye for the game, or for talent.
That's why they covet the numbers because their own personal observation is lacking.
I trust what I see, and what I see is a QB in the "prototype" dream body type, the dream physical specimen type, that lures everyone into belief,, but possess very little of the skills that have to be fundamental to ever be a great QB in this league.
I don't hate Dak, and I don't love Dak,, really makes no difference on fan opinion of Dak, but the fact is that Dak will never be good enough, great enough to take this team anywhere past mediocrity.
Its sad to me that a majority of this fan base is willing to accept, willing to pay for mediocrity, and I guess the days are over for a fan base that demanded greatness!
This is the Dallas Cowboys damnit! We demand to be the best!
Im glad I was part of that era, and I just cant understand why this younger fan base believes that by paying for something your actually buying something.

So many of his throws were just terrible. Dudes were wide open. The people who want to focus on the drops kill me. Every pass he threw was off. Some of the catches made were amazing simply because of how bad the throws were. Jarwin and Gallup both had some amazing catches because of it. Witten the week before had the awesome 1 hander spinning around because of the bad throw. Beasley had to catch 1 behind his head last season. The guys are bailing Dak out every single week because of his terrible ball placement. They couldn't do it Sunday because it was just too bad.

Dak has gotten these WRs hurt throwing the ball to a wide open player and he has to vertical leap 3 feet and reach behind as the defender catches up and takes his legs out so he lands on his head. I guarantee Amari wants to get the heck outta Dallas.
I remember when he got Dez hurt his rookie year this very way. Then they proceeded to blame Dez for his lack of production.

Younger fan base? I'm only 4 years younger than you. lol

What do you define as greatness in a QB? Make some comparisons.

I disagree, Dak is a timing guy he’s not a read the field 4th option thrower. That’s why he’s great at short to intermediate passes and comebacks...timing. When Dak gets in a rhythm and has his timing down he is deadly (See Vikings game)
Dak can play pretty good at times but he goes cold to often. Even in the west coast offense you need be able to throw downfield accurately because the ball is in the air before the WR is making his break. Today's defenses will crowd the line of scrimmage and take away those shorter routes.

Interesting take on Wentz and Dak from former players. Wiley sounds like he is getting paid to stick up for Dak.
