I don’t want a QB that will “carry the load”.

Pollard is more than fine as a RB1. As long as we have guys behind him who can give him a breather and still be productive.

I believe Malik Davis, Deuce Vaughn, and Ronald Jones can do that. But we haven’t seen it from them yet which makes it a question mark.

Tony Pollard is more than capable of being a “RB1” in the modern NFL. You just need to have good RB depth in the modern NFL and that’s the question mark for the cowboys right now.

It’s not like back in the day when you had guys like Emmitt smith who you knew was going to play every single game, game in and game out. Season after season. Those guys are rare.

Smart post, guy.

In my opinion, minus Dak and Parsons, he’s the most important cowboy for this upcoming season. I believe with my whole heart we would’ve beaten San Fran had pollard not gotten hurt. Couple of things:

1. Do you have confidence Pollard will be fine coming back from injury?

2. Do you believe he can carry the load as the RB1?

3. How do you expect McCarthy to manage the RB Carrie’s with the current roster?

4. Predict his stats for the upcoming season

Pollard is our stud, our new guy for the next 3-4 years.
I believe in him. And he'll be backed by Malick and Deuce.
Thanks, Jerald. You don't get enough credit for acquisitions.

Pollard is better than all those guys. Pollard should get 225-250 carries a year and no more. Unless he proves he can handle them. Either way, I would use more backs. We need to save him for the playoffs.
This is why I bring in Cook.

Cooks wants big money thats why he isnt signed yet. What we need is a starting guard so we can move Steele to swing tackle.
From what I’ve heard he’s looking for a one year. Offer him 7 plus incentives and a chance to take the job from pollard next offseason when both are on the market. Our RB room is trash right now, if pollard gets hurt we’re in big trouble

This defense is something special and they have a great team on paper this year, cook is a signal of intent to the rest of the league that we’re trying to win. Imagine a dual rb set with cooks lamb cook and pollard

The Cowboys are going to have to be careful with Pollard. He’s coming off a serious injury and the biggest workload of his career. If they attempt to put too much on his plate this season, injuries could start popping up.

1. I don't have that confidence, yet. Nor do I have it that he will stay healthy.

2. It depends on how they use him, but to carry the load every game, no I don't think he can. He is coming off a bad injury, and has not practice yet. Heck is he even running and making cuts yet. They are keeping that more closely guarded than Fort Knox. So he has not been able to work on his stamina any. Maybe if 100% for TC, he can get there.

3. It depends on what RB or if 2 RB's step up and can show they can spell Pollard or be able to be used splitting carries.

4. If healthy, I think he can get to 1,000 yards again. However that it only 59 YPG. I don't think he gets over 8 TD's unless the OL is terrific at goal line blocking.
He has practiced, even if it was just a glorified walk-through. That doesn't mean we know if his burst or cutting ability is back, but it was good to see him out there with the team.

He’s probably lost some speed.

who wouldn’t.

His foot was pointing backwards.

It's a total crap shoot as to whether he will come back 100% after the injury this soon.

Furthermore the NFL is no place to come back a step slow that's how you get smacked and reinjured.

Not to mention he tended to wear down before the injury.

So in short in my opinion we should not have wasted the draft pick on a tight end we should have gotten a good running back and been properly prepared for the season because as we all know failure to prepare is preparing to fail

The training staff and medical staff and their facilities are at a world class level. They know what they are doing.

Run him into the ground and move on. Anything else is bad business

Possibility of a three year window or one and gone. A veteran can still be signed this season and a draft in 2024.
