Dalton isnt an elite QB and not someone you want as a long term starter, but he can do anything Dak can do and maybe a little more (based on this years w/l records) and he's not coming off a major injury. The real question is whether Dalton is a better long term option than Dak as our #2 QB.

Dalton was interesting yesterday in that he highlighted a lot of Dak's strengths and weaknesses for people with an open mind.

On one hand, remember the deep pass interference on CD? Well, Lamb had his guy beat by a good bit. Dalton floated that pass so badly that Lamb had to come back causing the pass interference. Virtually nothing that Dalton threw was downfield. If Dak was in there, the passing game would have been far more vertical. You also had minimal RPO, rollouts etc. The times Dalton did do it it was successful but it almost highlighted how much we miss Dak's ability in that regard.

On the other hand, Dalton was reading Philly like a kid's book. He was picking the right guy and it was screwing with their blitz scheme pretty badly. Once he picked the right guy, Dalton was putting a tight spiral right in the guy's hands . . . in stride. A lot of the RAC yards were the result of accurate passes. Dak struggles with a lot of this.

I don't think that Dallas should just dump Dak. I also don't think you can just hand him a blank check. A truly elite QB can do everything that both of these guys can do but good luck getting one. Dallas is in a real tough position with Dak which is why it gets so much discussion.

It isn't really a tough position when you accept the fact that Dak Prescott isn't worth 30 million a year let alone 35 million a year regardless of what the QB market is. Hey if some other team wants to overpay for him go right ahead. More than the poor drafts and the bonehead decisions of trading draftpicks for receivers, the single biggest thing that has hurt this org is the decision to pay average players elite money because of this "we like our guys" philosophy. That philosophy is great if we were running a frat house but it doesn't work when you are trying to run a football team. Part of being a really good football team means that you are constantly churning the roster and getting better. This means that you are always looking for trades that make your team better. You don't overpay for middling talent and no matter how much you want to trot out Dak Prescott's stats he is a middling talent - he certainly is nowhere near the caliber of an Aaron Rodger or a Patrick Mahomes or a Tom Brady even.

I figure that roughly the following teams will be in the market for a new QB either to start or groom: Jacksonville, NYJ, Washington, Denver, Detroit, New England, New Orleans, Atlanta.

The following QB's will be available as part of those shuffles: Dalton obviously, Stafford, Wentz, Fitzpatrick, Darnold, Minshew

There are also 5 QB's projected in the first round: Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance, Trask plus others in rounds 2 and 3.

I may have missed some teams or names but I think its pretty obvious that in this game of musical chairs, there are less teams than QB's. I seriously wonder if Dallas didn't franchise Dak, what his contract offer would be. I really don't see him getting $40m. New England could trade a conditional 7th rounder for Wentz and pay him less than $25m over the rest of his contract. Others even less.

Combined record of the teams DAndy has beaten. Which wouldn’t have been possible without the great benefit of the 10 turnovers forced by the defense.

Come out them shallow waters people, we wading into the deep end of the pool!

Quit scheming off the top! Im taking you beneath the surface!

Let Dak walk

He’s better than the latter two

Dalton was lousy in his first two starts, he’s obviously played better(as the team around him has improved), why is it people can’t grasp the fact that Dak’s play would’ve improved as well. People act as if Dak’s four games was his ceiling for 2020.

Easily replaced by a number of FA's this off-season, he's just an average player. Thankfully, the team agrees that he's not worth what he's asking for.
