Lets calm down on the TO bashing here...

I hate when people throw out the "You're not a real Cowboys fan" crap -but come on! Cripes. How can you say that you will LOVE IT when your favorite team pays the price?

The same reason you let your son slam his fingers in the door after you've told him not to play with the door...sometimes it's the only way they learn.

Just as old and tired as the Anti-TOs have been with their "fake fan" rubbish.

The door swings both ways.

and who have i called a fake fan? *all* the generic crap needs to end but it won't. not with TO and not with human nature.

Leave it to an outsider to bring some sense to the 'conversation'.

Guys, TO is huge risk/reward--it could work out great or it could explode in our face. But, bottomline, we're taking a chance to dramatically improve the team.

Let's give the guy a chance before we light him on fire.

he's had chances and has blamed all problems on everyone but him. what has he ever done to show me *this* is different now? if that's the same, the end result will be also.

All of you Tim Cowlishaw zombies need to step back and close your mouths ...
TO is not Michael Irvin ...hookers - Crack pipes - allegations etc....TO never had any of that crap....I heard the same when we got Deion..."oh he's a cancer!" blah blah blah ...Deion is a great guy ...a showboat - but that's all ...

Hey, and don't think for a second this team doesn't need a kick in the A ...We need confidence....a winner....a guy WHO wants the ball...We need a Gamebreaker....Dallas has always had "EGO GUYS" Butch Johnson drove Landry nuts - but he made a great catch in the SB ...Duane Thomas was a nutjob ...Dorsett forever complained about not getting the ball enough and even took shots at Landry in his book....Emmitt Smith is the biggest EGO - "Gimmie the Ball - I ain't coming out the game b/c I wanna pad my stats" player we've ever had!
And of course Mike Irvin who fired trash cans at reporters ...

Calm Down...

How 'bout you not be so presumptuous as to tell me how I should feel, and react??

If you like that piece of crap, terrific for you... I don't, and I never will... none of those players you're trying to compare TO to have done the same garbage he's pulled on not one, not two, but three teams now... I don't need choirboys to root for, but excuse me if I don't want a guy brought in who's bound to HURT the team, sooner or later... given his history, it is utterly illogical to think he'd do anything else in Dallas...

When things aren't going the way he'd like, the guy will throw any and all of his teammates under the bus; if he's not satisfied with his contract (as he won't be in year 2, when he's not pocketing a big signing bonus) he'll generally act like a child... I just don't want to have to deal with that BS...

I'm sorry, I will NEVER root for the Cowboys to do poorly. If you want to go with that analogy, that would be like allowing him to learn for himself, and being thrilled that he hurt his hand. I'm gonna throw this out once, and only once -

No REAL father would react positively to a situation like that.

You know the rest.

Here is my question. I am on the record as being a NO to TO guy.

However, there is one thing that I do not understand by some of the reactions on this board.

I understand TO is probably the most self centered annoying guy I have ever seen in my life.

However, did you guys have a problem cheering for Michael Irvin in the 90s. I mean he cheated on his wife with hookers and did Crack Cocaine and helped bring down the 90s dynasty. Of course even with all his baggage he was so likeable. Is that all we are talking about is likeability?

I understand the hesitance some have in regards to TO because of the "cancer" aspect he brings to a team. What I dont understand are those who have a moral problem with him coming to the team. Please, for those who fill this way I am not looking to start a war of words with you guys. I simply want to understand where you guys are coming from.

Did I say "you"?

If you think those who don't want Owens here haven't called out those that do every name in the book and questioned their allegiances, then you haven't been reading very well.

I've said it once and i'll say it again. This board is full of hypocrites and fake fans. These are the fans at the stadium that look at you crazy when you jump up and scream at a touchdown for Dallas.

Everyone of you that accepted Keyshawn should be ashamed of yourselves if you're not accepting T.O. Everyone of you who accepted mean spirited urinate on my teammates car "Charles Haley" should accept T.O.

Remember how we should have won a 3rd SB in a row, but because of Michael Irvin's off the field issues and suspension, it put us behind the 8 ball and we couldn't recover. The same Michael that cursed on national TV at the Super Bowl in front of Billions.

What about show-boat Deion. Mr money hungry everyone was upset about Jerry Jones shelling out that huge signing bonus to get him, and his me me me me attitude, but when he was cleaning up interceptions and shutting down his side of the field and returning punts, you hypocrites celebrated big time.

Keyshawn made the insults of insults on his COACH!!!!!! Not a stupid player, but his BOSS!! He got himself kicked off of his team too. He dogged another player of his too. He screamed at his coach Gruden up and down the sideline including his QB DRew Bledsoe. He is no different from T.O. except T.O is super talented. This fan base is becoming a political fan base instead of a great fan base. This guy will be your player, our player. There is no reason to hate him personally, he's never done anything to any person on this board.

The guy simply orchestrated his departure twice. I'll bet you a million dollars, that in both cases (49ers/philthy) had they cut him, you would never have had all the public termoil. It's simple, if he can't control himself like Antonio Bryant couldn't, CUT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way 'nuff said:
As a Commanders fan, I'm at a loss for words. I know we have our differences, but I like some of the people on this board, and I like this board on the whole. It's a good community.

But good christ, people. No one player is bigger than the concept of the team (despite what TO himself thinks). Don't let this *******s 3 year stay ruin the experience you've had of rooting for this team since you were kids.

Who knows what TO will bring, it's a toss up. You can bet he'll bring great play and a bunch of drama, but the wildcard here is where and when it'll happen. And if it's to happen, and he wrecks the franchise and causes a disruption, it'll be looked at as a black eye on the face of the franchise.

But when you get a black eye, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back in the fight as corny as that sounds. Thats what it looks like the Eagles are going to do.

Dunno. If the Commanders got TO, i wouldn't be thrilled, but I'd never question my loyalty to the team. Hate the player, not the team.

Sorry for that, but I just think it's sad when some people allow one player to ruin being a fan of a team just by the stroke of a pen.
Good post. too bad you're not a 'boys fan :)

Thanks man.

I dunno how many of you follow baseball, but my favorite team, the Orioles have been owned by one of the worst owners in sports for the past decade or so. While I cringe every year at how bad the team is and how bad we do at the offseason acquisitions, I recognize that he's just a blip on the mark of a franchise that'll be restored to greatness, eventually.

Same with TO. I just can't believe people would let TO win, in essence. I can't imagine not rooting for a team just because they acquired someone I didn't like.

I wouldn't be THRILLED that he hurt his hand but I would, and have, felt irritated at him and felt a sense of 'see? that's what you get.' Now, since nobody blood-related to me that is under the age of 10 is involved in the Dallas scenario, I will feel those same feelings just on a larger more schadenfreudian level. If you don't understand or agree, that's fine. Not everyone is the same.

I doubt you get what you are looking for.

Just more emotions on the sleeve gut responses to a player they hate, but don't even know nor know all the circumstances about his history.

I don't like him either. I think he is a touch insane and more than a little ignorant. But he can play football and will make this team better at least in the short run.

I bet if you took a poll of many of these people, who do you hate more, Hitler or Owens, it would be a victory for Owens.

Obviously for all of us, should things turn out badly, there will be an irritated sense of "I knew this could happen. Guess it serves us right." But it will no doubt be followed by dejection. I take issue with;

ALL = both sides, dude.

This will all end when TO scores his first TD.....

He will be our most explosive threat in a LONG time.
