Lets calm down on the TO bashing here...

Thanks man.

I dunno how many of you follow baseball, but my favorite team, the Orioles have been owned by one of the worst owners in sports for the past decade or so. While I cringe every year at how bad the team is and how bad we do at the offseason acquisitions, I recognize that he's just a blip on the mark of a franchise that'll be restored to greatness, eventually.

I've been an O's fan since '65, saw Jim Palmer pitch as a rookie... would you care to contribute to my fund to pay a hit man to have Angelos and his sons Tweedledum and Tweedledumber killed?? :D

Personally, I'm trying to figure out a way to root for the Boys, and against TO... I'll be a Cowboys fan until they shovel dirt in my fact, but I'll hate TO that long, too...

What's a boy to do??

I doubt you get what you are looking for.

Just more emotions on the sleeve gut responses to a player they hate, but don't even know nor know all the circumstances about his history.

I don't like him either. I think he is a touch insane and more than a little ignorant. But he can play football and will make this team better at least in the short run.

I bet if you took a poll of many of these people, who do you hate more, Hitler or Owens, it would be a victory for Owens.

You are probably correct.

It's only human nature. People form their opinions of people and things and usually once that opinion is formed it's usually set in stone.

If TO can present himself as being a halfway decent person, team player, make a few big catches, win a few games for us, maybe a playoff game or two......it won't take a jackhammer to start chipping away some of that stone.

We can only hope.....we shall see.

This will all end when TO scores his first TD.....

He will be our most explosive threat in a LONG time.

He will be explosive.

You saw Palmer pitch as a rookie? That must have been awesome!

And yes, I'll contribute. My dad has a lovely collection of high powered rifles, scopes and hollow tipped shells upstairs. :)

As it relates to the intensity of the vomit he induces in honorable fans, yes.

Don't you start with that, now. :)

You seem a decent fellow, I hate to kill you. ;) (sorry, ice got me started. I can't stop)

I was 13, living in Hagerstown (my Dad's home town, he had recently been transferred from Fort Bliss to Fort Meade), and my Boy Scout troop took us all to a game at Memorial Stadium... they were playing the (then) Los Angeles Angels... the O's were losing 1-0 going into the bottom of the ninth, it would have been worse but Paul Blair made this terrific running catch in center field with two down and the bases loaded...

Then the O's bunched 3 singles and a stolen base, and won the game 2-1... I remember it like it was yesterday...

We can truthfully remove a few 'ifs' here, Cbz40...

A healthy Owens will make lots of big catches. He's done it everywhere he's been.

A healthy Owens will help us win a few games. Being an excellent WR, there is no reason to not think so.

A healthy Owens will help us win in the postseason. He's a clutch receiver.

But there are few 'ifs' which Owens will not be able to rid himself of.

He has never demonstrated himself as being a 'halfway decent person'. He did not do so in San Francisco. Neither did he do so in Philadelphia.

He cried on national television that his $43 million dollar contract could not feed his family. We're not talking about crocodile tears, here. He was practically bawling in front of the cameras. His personality is not 'team first'. It's 'I loves me some me'.

In two years with the Eagles, Owens had nearly 1,800 yards receiving, averaged around 16 yards per catch and 20 touchdowns.

In one season with the Cowboys, Owens could double those numbers and it would still not shave a sliver of stone from my perspective of the man.

Just my opinion. It was my opinion when he was a 49er. It never changed when he was an Eagle. Why should it change now?

A guy and I were having a discussion the other day about baseball. He said Bonds (guess what started the convo) was the best defensive outfielder he had ever seen. I brought up Paul Blair. I know that hitting stats make you a star, but that guy's contributions were phenomneal.

I watched Deion in centerfield at Yankee stadium years ago. I actually like him then.

Would have loved to have seen Paul Blair play. Too bad that fastball to the face interrupted his career, he was pretty good with the bat up until then.
