Do you really think he would pass up a Superbowl Championship to leave for a major rebuilding job next year?

For the chance to be a HC and the big increase in money that comes with it....yes.

He also said he never thought he'd have the opportunity be a HC again.

True. This is a dream job for Wade. He is a Texas Boy coaching the Dallas Cowboys and right now he has them playing damn good football there is no way he would agree to step down as a HC to become the DC. My gut feeling regarding Jason is he plans on being here for a while. I don't think it was an accident that Garrett was hired in before Wade and I do think Garrett understands he has a future here in Dallas if he chooses to stay around.

Quick questions for everyone.

Wade Phillips is 8-1. Now, I know his record in the playoffs is spotty at best but would it be all that bad to have Wade Phillips coaching this team for the next several years?

I may be in the minority but I am not on the Replace Wade with Garrett in 2 years Scenario.

- Mike G.

Wade Philips has never won a playoff game as HC. Dallas hasn't won a playoff game since the 1996 season, and has had December collapses the last three seasons they had a winning record.

So if Wade can overcome that and win one, two, or even THREE :)bow:) games in the postseason - give the man a contract extension!

The christ-like qualities attributed to Jason Garrett are getting out of hand.

This offense was 5th in total offense, 4th in scoring offense last year (with a finished Drew Bledsoe and first-year Tony Romo at QB). It's not like Redball took a squad filled with Quincy Carter's and Troy Hambricks and painted them up all respectable-like for a playoff run. This offense has simply taken the next step, and yes - Jason Garrett is a part of that.

But this current squad is 8-1 - and it didn't even come close to that level of play last season. Wade came in, and we may have skipped a couple levels to get where we are now.

If Garrett wants to walk - let him walk. We'd like to have a Cowboy around, but if he earns a head coaching job, let him go. But if we keep this up - we never fire Wade just to get to the young new hotness. That's bad business, and it's just stupid. I think we ought to quit obsessing over Jason "Red Jesus" Garrett and enjoy the fantastic level of play that Wade Phillips has this team at. In any other season we'd be sure super bowl favorites. So why are we talking about moving on from the head coach that has this team playing like super bowl contenders?

Just say no to moving to Jason Garrett simply because we might lose his services.

Excellent post!!
