Everyone wants to argue who the better player is...it's a pretty stupid argument if you ask me...no crap Romo is better than Dak at a lot of things..a lot of things that if you are a simpleton, would easily equate to being a better player / better qb for the team...

Let me explain to you why that's not the case...aside from Romo being injury prone...

The real case for Dak is that he fits the style of the team much better..

Less negative plays
Gets rid of the ball quicker
Takes less sacks
Protects the ball better
Keeps the team ahead of the chains

This is why Dak is better for this team than Romo

Romo can read defenses better
Romo can throw more accurately
Romo can disect a defense better

But at the end of the day...give me the guy who does the first list of things better...especially for this team

I keep seeing people harp on this interception thing. Dak could easily have been picked 5 times so far this year.

and my response to it is so what if he had? If Eric Reid catches the simple INT thrown right to him on the first drive and SF goes down the field and scores how does it change the game? How does it change how good Dak has played?

It doesn't and Dak with or without INT has played well. This idea that Romo doesnt protect the ball is pretty foolish. With Romo its a more aggressive passing game.

Bill parcells once told Phil Simms if he wasn't throwing INT he wasn't trying hard enough, be aggressive take shots. Its not the biggest negative in the world.

Now if you are throwing picks like Fitzpatrick and you are a marginal player then its a real problem, but if you are a player the caliber of Romo its being aggressive and within the offense. Just like Manning and bree's who are turnover machines, but its within an aggressive offensive system.

I don't think we need to make a decision on this right now, but I definitely see all your points and tend to agree. Reality is that Romo isn't what he was a free years ago...he's slower, less mobile, more fragile. He has to manage his bad back which makes him play stiffer. I doubt he has the same arm strength.

And you make some good points about the style of play. Dak is pretty super and I'm amazed we got him. The Cowboys front office sure didn't know what they had a few months ago. Suddenly: Eureka...we found gold!

No.

Who's to say this team Isn't vastly improved from the ones that couldn't get a win with 10 other qb's not Named romo? This is his team and dak will probably say as much when the questions come up.

PFF says Dak threw 0 interceptable balls through 3 games...and yes, protecting the ball is important

good for them, go back and watch each game yourself and get back to me. The giants had repeated chances and didn't catch any, especially the tipped balls. Same thing in washington.

Protecting the ball is important but you are making simpleton examples of it. If Dak had been picked by Reid today it does not change the game or how good Dak has played.

I've seen every pass

A deflected ball that hits the ground and isn't dropped by the defense isn't an interceptable ball

It all depends on how the next few weeks go. If Dak can get through this at 2-1 while still playing well, ya have to stay with him. It will give Romo even more time to get in game shape without the need to rush him back. There is a nice chemistry forming here, would be a shame to disrupt that if the above case happens.

I don't want to see Dallas kicking arse and inserting Romo just because and he goes on to have a bad game. The fans/media will really expand on that and will be calling for his benching immediately. Let him work in slowly until it is evident that Dak has hit a wall.

We will have Romo to fall back on if it comes to that. I am just worried about his readiness after all that missed time, especially against an Eagles defense. We might need Dak's legs more in that game.

It is a tough situation to be in(decision wise) and I am glad I am not making it :D

I am all for Romo coming back, just not sure if he will be effective enough considering the injuries and time missed.

Ok.

I am going to giggle when these balls are caught and Dak actually has a mistake and you are killing him on twitter and on here.

And you are right that is Romo's Legacy...tales too many negative plays. Right.

I don't care if Dak throws an INT...do you think I think he's never going to turn the ball over?

I don't

I think he keeps the team ahead of schedule at all times

The argument isn't whether Romo is better at some things. The argument is that he's the better player overall. Dak's closing in that race week by week in my opinion. Today was another huge step, coming back when down two scores, starting multiple series with penalties putting us in 1st and 15 or 1st and 20. Without Dez. Without Tyron. He was impressive.

Of course Romo is the better player overall..that's different than being the better player for this team

Romo is not the future but is the now QB as long as he is healthy, Dak maybe the future but shows a lot of promise. But if you ever want to go back to the Super Bowl you draft defense 1st, 2nd, 3th, 4th, 5th, 6th , and 7th. Then defensive FAs and if Dak is not the guy then draft QB.
