Rant Zone?
Rant Zone?
I may be just a grouchy old fart, but for the life of me I an't figure out why anyone would give a rat's *** about ANYTHING S A Smith has to say.-
I'm not trying to be doom and gloom but it's always something with this team so how can I feel otherwise until I see some new results consistently. When the Patriots and Steelers get to the playoffs good things seem to happen more often than not. Same with the Giants and Packers most years. I just want us to prove Stephen A Smith wrong and yet we keep proving him right.
Dak's record in elimination games is 0 and 1.
Dak is on his way to stardom.....barring injury. He's already stayed away from the early talk shows (unlike TRomo when he landed the starting job over Bledsoe). I think "We good".Dak's record in elimination games is 0 and 1.
As much as I hate Stephen A. Smith, He is right about two things; "We are an accident waiting to happen" and "What can go wrong will go wrong". The Cleveland Browns have cornered the market on heartbreaking regular season losses but we seem to be their equivalent in the playoffs. What other team has suffered so many heartbreaking losses in the post-season? We have now lost 8 of our last 10 playoffs games and most were in heart-wrenching fashion. We have the Tony Romo bobbled snap, The Crayton drop, The Dez non-catch and now the 3rd and 20. If you go back further we have "The Catch", the 0-21 five minute start against the Niners in 1994, The Jackie Smith drop in Super Bowl XIII and I could go on and on.
What makes it so frustrating is that in so many of the games we were the superior team only to find a new way to lose. What is going on here and how can we get back to the point where things start to go our way? There is no way we can go into our next playoff game without thinking we are snake-bit. Now Dak is 0-1 in the playoffs and with one more loss, he will be labeled as a choker too. I am so ready for the post-season black cat to leave the room.

I reject the whole notion... The whole connection you are trying to make.
Cleveland simply DOES NOT WIN. PERIOD.
THAT is NOT us.
I know all about Paul Ryan story.
I will say this....
1.) the "lovable losers"... "always the bridesmaid but never the bride"...
2.) the "next years champions" (that seemed would never be)....
3.) the "America's Team" moniker that was attached to us because we just couldn't get over the hump and win it all..... I see us there.... not the first two....
He DID say the playoff version. We are now 3-9 since winning the Super Bowl 21 years ago.

Hard to argue with the OP. Truth hurts

I was really comparing our last 20 years of postseason losses to the ways the Browns find ways to lose games in the regular season. I really do wonder if we will ever make it to a Super Bowl again if Jerry is still running the show. The last two playoffs losses were tough because we were clearly the better in team in those games and yet we did not get the breaks needed to advance. We might as well forget ever getting benefit of doubt calls to go our way in these games so we need even more luck than the average team. We just don't have enough luck to overcome bad/biased officiating. You left out Super Bowl V and the Ice Bowl. The old timers know what I'm talking about.
But Cleveland Browns? Step back a minute. The Vikings and Bills are 0-4 all time in Super Bowls. The Bengals and Eagles are 0-2. The Browns haven't even played in one. We still have 5 of those shiny trophies, but it has been a frustrating 21st century so far.
This year's team was coming off 4-12 and starting a rookie 4th round QB, and look how they're heading into next season. I can't wait for it to start.
