I'm not trying to be doom and gloom but it's always something with this team so how can I feel otherwise until I see some new results consistently. When the Patriots and Steelers get to the playoffs good things seem to happen more often than not. Same with the Giants and Packers most years. I just want us to prove Stephen A Smith wrong and yet we keep proving him right.
I may be just a grouchy old fart, but for the life of me I an't figure out why anyone would give a rat's *** about ANYTHING S A Smith has to say.

Dak's record in elimination games is 0 and 1.

What was Romo's? I know it was very bad. 2-4 in the playoffs for starters. Lost the Philly game in 2008 that was do or die. for the playoffs. Lost 2 more in 2011 and 2012 that was do or die for the playoffs.
So 2-7?

We'll never get where we want to go as long as Jason Garrett is our coach. It's really not difficult to discern that. He gives us zero advantage over our opponents. His only function at this point is clock mismanagement.

Dak is on his way to stardom.....barring injury. He's already stayed away from the early talk shows (unlike TRomo when he landed the starting job over Bledsoe). I think "We good".

In fairness....TRomo never had a solid RB...perhaps the reason for a Pass Happy scheme would yield high rewards, but high risk too.

As much as I hate Stephen A. Smith, He is right about two things; "We are an accident waiting to happen" and "What can go wrong will go wrong". The Cleveland Browns have cornered the market on heartbreaking regular season losses but we seem to be their equivalent in the playoffs. What other team has suffered so many heartbreaking losses in the post-season? We have now lost 8 of our last 10 playoffs games and most were in heart-wrenching fashion. We have the Tony Romo bobbled snap, The Crayton drop, The Dez non-catch and now the 3rd and 20. If you go back further we have "The Catch", the 0-21 five minute start against the Niners in 1994, The Jackie Smith drop in Super Bowl XIII and I could go on and on.

What makes it so frustrating is that in so many of the games we were the superior team only to find a new way to lose. What is going on here and how can we get back to the point where things start to go our way? There is no way we can go into our next playoff game without thinking we are snake-bit. Now Dak is 0-1 in the playoffs and with one more loss, he will be labeled as a choker too. I am so ready for the post-season black cat to leave the room.

I reject the whole notion... The whole connection you are trying to make.

Cleveland simply DOES NOT WIN. PERIOD.
THAT is NOT us.

I know all about Paul Ryan story.

I will say this....

1.) the "lovable losers"... "always the bridesmaid but never the bride"...
2.) the "next years champions" (that seemed would never be)....

3.) the "America's Team" moniker that was attached to us because we just couldn't get over the hump and win it all..... I see us there.... not the first two....

At this point, I am willing to settle for a playoff win every few years. At least that would be a pleasant surprise.

You left out Super Bowl V and the Ice Bowl. The old timers know what I'm talking about.

But Cleveland Browns? Step back a minute. The Vikings and Bills are 0-4 all time in Super Bowls. The Bengals and Eagles are 0-2. The Browns haven't even played in one. We still have 5 of those shiny trophies, but it has been a frustrating 21st century so far.

This year's team was coming off 4-12 and starting a rookie 4th round QB, and look how they're heading into next season. I can't wait for it to start. :starspin:

He DID say the playoff version. We are now 3-9 since winning the Super Bowl 21 years ago.

Yes. Understood on first read.

I still CANNOT do a Cleveland / Dallas comparison.
Maybe if we were 0-12.... then....nah.... I probably still couldn't.

This team could use a couple of veteran players who have been on teams that had playoff success. Maybe they could help instill whatever it takes to get over the hump in the post-season.

We lost because we need more defensive players.

Dak was utterly clutch and the team played very well all season, including the playoff game.

Some fans around here need an exorcism.

Stop.

The odds were heavily stacked against the Cowboys winning a Super Bowl this season. We didn't have the horses to stop Rogers, Ryan and Brady.

Stephen would never have said what he did if we had a good defense. He knew it was safe to say what he did because in football terms we lacking.

Once you start going down the world of black cats and voodoo...there's no hope for you.

Threads like this irritate me.

We are Americans and our history shows it was our effort leading the world against the Axis power. Do we just forget that? Maybe call ourselves losers?

Are you flippin' kidding me?

The team we follow is the Dallas Cowboys. We have a rich history and championship trophies. This team has been to the mountain top time and again. The playoff ticket sales for the Super Bowl tapered off when the Dallas Cowboys exited this tournament this year. This is the most expensive and valued sports franchise on the planet.

This is America's Team. This is the jewel in the NFL ring. This is the Dallas Cowboys.

To actually suggest this is the Cleveland Browns is an insult to every player that gave their all on the field, every coach that guided this team, everyone in management that steered this team to success, and the entire fan base that is here year in and year out, win, lose, or draw. The loyalists, the fans of this team, The Dallas Cowboys.

This is the freakin Dallas Cowboys..not the Cleveland Browns.

What are the odds if your team makes the playoffs but lose before claiming a Super Bowl title?

8 to 1 against you. In other words, you've got a 12.5% chance.

And yet when fans of these playoff teams lose...their fans inevitably think it was just a choke job.

If you are obviously stronger than the field...a team both with top offense and top defense then clearly your odds are higher. We did not have such a team...not yet.

I was really comparing our last 20 years of postseason losses to the ways the Browns find ways to lose games in the regular season. I really do wonder if we will ever make it to a Super Bowl again if Jerry is still running the show. The last two playoffs losses were tough because we were clearly the better in team in those games and yet we did not get the breaks needed to advance. We might as well forget ever getting benefit of doubt calls to go our way in these games so we need even more luck than the average team. We just don't have enough luck to overcome bad/biased officiating.
