Fine, I'll play.
1) Fired Campo.
2) Fired Gailey.
LOL... it kinda figures that the first two things that popped into your head were when he got rid of somebody you detested...
As for me, I was down on him for hiring Campo, but on board with him hiring Gailey... even when he had to fire Gailey, I still thought it was a good move, that could have worked...
3) Poured his own money into a magnificent new stadium.
That's got nothing to do with him being a GM... that's Jerry the BUSINESSMAN...
5) Moved training camp to cooler California.
And now, he's moved it back to Texas... of course, this also has more to do with Jerry the businessman than Jerry the GM...
6) Innovative deals with companies like Nike.
Again, that's Jerry the businessman...
7) Swallowed his pride and hired a real, proven coach like Bill Parcells.
HALLELUJAH!!! Now, if you can just figure out that's evidence that Jerry has CHANGED, perhaps you can also figure out that your criticisms were once valid, but are now quite dated... almost ancient history...
8) Dumped Larry Lacewell.
Except he did no such thing... he just moved him to a less high-profile role in the organization-- by his own admission, Lacewell has been in place all along, and in Jerry's ear...
So, in your attempt to play the game, you came up with a number of things that reflected his talent as a BUSINESSMAN, rather than as a GM, and you gave him "credit" for something he didn't do... your other "positive" accomplishments involved either firing somebody you didn't like, or the one actual compliment you paid him, the hiring of Parcells...
Even when you DID pay him a deserved compliment, you still haven't figured out that hiring is why us "homers" believe he's changed...
Yes, for a time there after the Super Bowl runs, he made a lot of mistakes... some of them were forced on him, by the salary cap, but some of them were all on him...
HOWEVER, the day he hired Parcells, he said he finally got it, and his actions from that point to this have been different from what they were pre-Parcells... so criticisms of the pre-Parcells days are asinine, until and unless he gives us reason to believe he's reverted back to that form... given that his change in approach has worked fairly well, helping get the Boys back to the cusp of contention, it would be pretty ignorant to assume he's eager to change that new approach...
You have NO evidence that he's done any such thing, yet you act as if he never changed in the first place, never modified his approach to being a GM...
