Let's have a real Kellen Moore thread

I think he's still got a shot to be a decent backup. He just doesn't have the arm strength to be anything more than that.

Our front office talked after the season about not going through this QB turnstile again should Romo go down. They learned their lesson.

What I didn't know at that time is that that meant drafting Dak Prescott.

Moore's problem is that he is at his ceiling, and his ceiling is to be a 2nd to 3rd string NFL QB. He has the smarts and knows the offense, but physically he is going to struggle. His physical tools are at the bare minimum and if he were going to be able to develop that he would have already done so. You are always going to have to run a limited version of your offense to match up with what he can do....dink and dunk and an occasional deep ball.

With Prescott, you can run a mobile offense along the lines of what Seattle has done with Wilson and still be effective. Prescott is likely to improve a lot over the next two years becoming more of an NFL style QB, while Moore is pretty much going to be the same guy two years from now.

Been in the league to long to be on a practice squad. Might have a future as a QB coach but no arm strength...

I refuse to answer the troll thread about him, so here's a real one. Feel free to chime in with real analysis of Moore, no troll BS. My take is this: Moore is a long shot to even make the practice squad. I support the decision to put him in when Weeden and Cassel were sputtering. At that point, the season was lost so it didn't hurt to see what the kid had. He showed some spark and did move the ball. He made big rookie mistakes that lead to picks. He doesn't show that strong of an arm. It's very unlikely that he beats out Dak Prescott, IMO. Even Showers might compete with him. At best he may develop into a journeyman backup in the league, but I suspect he ends up playing Arena football. No shame in that. It's pro football. Maybe you think he could do better, maybe not. Post your opinions here.

Yes the knock on Moore is his lack of size and athleticism he doesn't have a rocket arm but can make all the throws minus the deepout to the opposite field. If fact in all the videos I've watched he has never attempted to throw the opposite field deep out. He has very good anticipation and touch. Not in love with his footwork. Do to his lack of arm strength he needs to really pant the back foot to drive the ball. Compact throwing motion nice quick release accurate on short and intermediate routes. Smart kid I believe HE CAN play in this league. I believe will be the backup this year. He will be his best in a quick uptempo west coast style offense with a lot of short and intermediate routes. He excels in reading pressure and finding hot routes. Most likely a career backup but a very solid one. I personally would like to see him get a shot as a starter somewhere in the league. I believe some OC in the league will believe they can tailor an offense to to his strengths.

Maybe they are going to hire a mad scientist to put Moore's brain in Prescott's body this summer to create the ultimate backup qb?

He is not NFL caliber. He makes way too many errors for a guy with no atheticism and arm strength.I would rather start Dak than play this guy.

He's Linehan's pet cat, if u watch the games he played, he was given routes to fit his noodle arm. No other back up was given options to fit his strengths, for crying out loud when Cassel arrived, nobody gave him the time of day. The bottom line, Moore has less skill than Garrett had.....enough said.

I would call that smart coaching

There are a lot of QB's that could make that claim that didn't do anything in the NFL.

Tebow is considered as one of the very best QBs ever at the college level. He was no talented enough to become a good passer. It happens quite offer TBH. QBs capable of playing in the pros are becoming very rare. Something is going to have to change in the pro game to adjust to it.

I take into consideration Linhand's opinion of him and go with that.
Moore has some of the intangibles you want in a QB but not all.
This thread would be better served at the end of training camp.

I guess being the best qb in college football isn't worth anything.

Not when you were running a gimmick offense and every 4th play was some gadget or trick play. Looking back at it now, I guess that coach was just doing what he had to do with a noodle armed QB.

If Moore was the best QB in college football how come he went undrafted?

Romo was ud too, Weedon and many others drafted in rd 1 went to do nothing,
but yet the same experts thought they were first round talent.

So it makes sense thatsome of those they think dont have talent enough to be drafted, may
have more talent than those they think are high draft talent.

Let's have a real Kellen Moore thread ... I don't think he's even going to make the practice squad? Doesn't seem very realistic to me based on what the organization has been saying throughout the off-season. I, myself, don't know what to make of Moore. He was more exciting to watch than either Cassell or Weeden but, ultimately, the teams needs to insist upon different results.
