Let's have a real Kellen Moore thread

Romo was ud too, Weedon and many others drafted in rd 1 went to do nothing,
but yet the same experts thought they were first round talent.

So it makes sense thatsome of those they think dont have talent enough to be drafted, may
have more talent than those they think are high draft talent.

Romo wasn't released after 3 years with the Cowboys. The Lions gave up on Moore. I see no starting potential in Kellen Moore. Romo was a very rare situation that's only happened in the NFL a few times. Jerry called Romo a miracle.

KMoore is at best a QB3 that can come in as a last resort, only because he knows the offense

If DAL counts on him as the QB2 then they failed terribly

We keep guys like him around way too long like Hayden and Carr, RKGs

Someone help me out...when a QB lacks "arm strength," is that not something that can be improved upon? I ask because I truly do not know.

I would call that smart coaching

His arm strength is better than Mannings' the last 3 or four years of his career. His mobility is comparable to Bradys. He has great intangibles. Especially with a great run game like ours he could be a very good backup if he can clean up the turnovers which I believe he will.

nope......tweaking mechanics could help a little but not nearly enough

You mean the year Manning had 5500 yards and 55 TDs........c'mon......

I think holding the 6 picks against Moore... Well I just can't do it.

He came into Dallas late... never got 1st team reps until late in the season. And was without the best WR on the team.

I'll reserve judgment for a bit.

His arm strength is not nearly as bad as many on this board believe. He has good anticipation so he is still able to make most of the throws minus the opposite field deep-outs and deep come backs. With our run game we are not going to be in 3rd and very long situations anyway. I've seen him throw 25 yrd in routes on several occasions. Like I said before he has better arm strength than Manning has had the last 3-4 years of his career. This kid could become a very good backup and perhaps more if a offense was tailored to his strengths. But to answer the question can arm strength be improved yes some but mostly through improved footwork and core abdominal work and light upper body weight training. He needs to stop throwing off his back foot when he gets pressure up the middle. When he plants hard off his back foot and steps hard into throws he is fine. He just needs to accept his limitations and learn to throw the ball OOB when he gets pressure he can avoid. All young QBs throw bad picks. He can and should clean them up. I believe he will.

This team could sign the local drunken bum from a street corner and fans would flock to defend his untapped football talent. Moore is now a potential starter along with a low 4th round pick that was the Cowboys option behind Conner Cook and several others. How can fans fall for it time after time? There will be threads about all the Pro Bowl quality UDFAs that was signed before long. It is hilarious to listen to the deafening silence after these scrubs get cut. It happens every year. The offseason and draft is filled with all this great talent that magically disappears by the regular season.

Yes even that year his arm strength was not as good as Moores is when Moore can step into throws. Manning never had a huge arm and the last few years it was weaker due to neck injury and nerve damage and he still could get it done because he is a tactical guy and new his limitations. Manning was very mobile the last few years either. Im not saying Moore is Patton Manning Im simply saying Moore could become a very good tactical passer he has the smarts to do it he just needs to get a shot. Above should read Manning was not very mobile.

Go back and watch that years highlight for Manning on YouTube and tell me you still believe his arm strength is better than Moores. Very few throws more than 25 yrds down field Manning himself was. Remember the commit " Manning throws ducks ? " Yes threw a lots of ducks for TDs.

Moore is going to really help Prescott. Yes, we are in trouble if he needs to play several games. But if it is just one game, he gives you a shot.

actually he was on the verge of being released, but then quincy got in trouble and was released so they kept
Romo.
We actually owe Quincy for the whole Romo thing.

no one is saying kellen is Romo, or that he he starter material, but he could be a backup.

You mentioned Romo and anytime Romo's name comes up when talking about an undrafted free agent QB there are some who think every undrafted free agent QB has a chance to be the next Romo. It's possible that Moore could develop into a solid backup but that's as good as it will ever get with him.

If Zeke, Morris and Bryant all stay healthy, I like our chances better with Moore.

With a great running game and a healthy #1 receiver, I think he'd produce much better results than last year. His INTs last year were certainly not great, but with the right pieces around him, I see no reason why he can't be a Chad Pennington level of talent.

I think we would have taken even Brissett before Cook and Prescott. We are at a rock and a jard place with Moore and Prescott.Moore has no business being in the NFL,Prescott atleast can get some first downs with his legs and wont make boneheaded mistakes like Moore.

He throws way too many picks.

He was a rookie thrown to the wolves. Aikman's first year INT% was 6.1. Unitas was 5-7 more than a few years even later on. I don't see him being more than a backup but you never know when the lights might come on big time. And of course he might have to go back to the PS.

All rookies make boneheaded mistakes. Reports are Moore is good with the Xs and Os.
