Let's look at the remaining D line and CB free agents

Then taking a QB at 4 should very much be on the table. If the draft is for building for the future and a QB like Wentz or Goff would be high on their board and they think could be a future franchise QB, then they should take the QB. If they are truly building for the future through the draft, that is.

But that's not what Jerry said. They have a 3-4 year window with Romo and have to win now and as such they can't afford to take a QB at 4, they need a positional player at that spot.

Well if you are in win now mode, you probably also shouldn't totally take yourself out of the mix for any prime free agent then. Doesn't mean you should throw money around like candy on the first day, but you also probably shouldn't fold up like a cheap suit if you have to overpay just a little for a guy like Miller, who they clearly liked.

And let's also point out that this new strategy of not paying for any prime free agents has been in effect for a few years now and what has that gotten the Cowboys? One playoff win. That's it.

Almost any team that loses their franchise QB and #1 WR for most of the year is going to suck. The team did
pretty good in 2014 and was very close to being a championship team. Romo has at least 3 years to go in his position
and it serves no good purpose to spend a #4 on a player who sits on the bench each week. Goff comes from a jailbreak
offense and will need lots of time and coaching to make it in the NFL. Does anyone think our QB coach can coach him up?
That's what I thought.

Do you not think a supposed good team should win at least 50% of their games with a competent backup?

And they were pretty mediocre in 2013. People want to act like every other year is the anomaly and 2014 was the true Cowboys team. That's foolish thinking but whatever.

Romo might have 3 years left. He might not. You do realize he's 36 right? And that he has a significant back problem and now has multiple collar bone breaks, right? That there's a decent chance he could get hurt again in the next 3 years right?

And in the end, it really doesn't matter what you think of the QBs in the draft. It's about the front office. If they like Wentz or Goff and would take them normally but decide against drafting either because they Romo will play flawlessly and not get hurt, then that isnt' really using the draft for the future. If the draft is truly about adding players for the future, then a QB should absolutely be a possibility at 4.

It should but, no rookie is going to win 5 games from today's college games unless their last name is Luck. We needed a better
backup (experienced) QB and then some better WR's. We fall pretty hard when Dez is out because we don't have any
backup #1 receivers. Goff has small hands which will be a fumbling machine in cold weather (defenses love the hand chop) and he
comes from a jailbreak offense. He's not going to win games in the NFL for awhile. Wentz might function better but, I think Cleveland
is all over him.

You might get your wish for a QB in this draft...His name is Prescott and they could take him in round 3.

The odds are even more stacked against Prescott being anything in this league than Wentz or Goff.

Prescott in the third would be exactly the type of backwards thinking I'd expect from Jerry and company.

He won't be anything this year just like Goff & Wentz... Now in 3 years with a new coaching staff, maybe.
Think Seahawks QB and take another look at him.

Ahhh, there it is............. Hey guys, we don't need to take a QB in the first round........... we can take a guy in the 3rd and he'll be Russell Wilson!

You do realize that in terms of percentages of success, the chances of landing a franchise QB are much higher taking a QB in the first round as opposed to the 3rd round, right? Actually, it's not even all that close.

Well Brady, Romo and Wilson are 3 pretty good QB's to draw to. There's more than one road to Dublin, my friend.

I guess you don't understand the concept of hit rates, percentages of success, etc?

I just hope Greg Hardy comes back, I don't want to have to draft a defensive end and he's definitely the best left

Tough to refute his comments though. If there is multiple teams in on guys like Fairley and Heyward, the Cowboys will and have shown they will bail out. They won't get in bidding wars.

I've said it multiple times, but look at last year. McFadden and Hardy were their big signings and both guys had little to no suitors.

They just don't seem keen on going after guys who might have their price driven up by competition.

I said he was right, dang folks why can't you leave me alone.

Would it be better to get in a stupid long debate? Cowboys will sign who they want period and until you know the asking price of those players you don't know what the Cowboys will do.

I figured by feeding y'all ego maybe y'all just drop it guess not
