On the bright side, if we don't sign anyone we'll probably get a 3rd rounder for Murray as a compensatory in 2016.

Maybe sign guys who were cut by their teams. I don't see anyone other than Hardy who would be a transformative addition, though I like Morgan.

We would get a pick for Parnell too, maybe a 4th or 5th, if he starts all 16 games.

We don't necessarily need a pro bowl caliber guy, it would be nice, but overall depth and talent is also extremely important for us. We got significant playing time from George Selvie, Nick Hayden, and the combo of Jack Crawford/Lavar Edwards last year. Plus Spencer is currently no longer under contract. So yeah, we absolutely need to sign people whether they are elite level players or not.

You and me both! People can kid themselves, but no rookie is going to walk into Dallas and suddenly correct this team's pass rush, by far its' biggest weakness. It simply doesn't happen, even for the very best of them.

Bingo! And it's why free agency is an absolute viable option right now. There is a time, place and position for free agency and the Dallas Cowboys defensive line fits all of that criteria.

The greatest in the game today, JJ Watt had 5 sacks his first year. Demarcus was amazing at 8. It takes at least a year in the weight room and working on technique. Sure we could develop but that's a dangerous game considering Romo's age and health.

Lawrence has to emerge next season. This past season cannot be considered a miss for him. He really has to progress to the next level.

It seems like an either/or proposition to me.

We can either re-sign Murray and draft a pass rusher and hope he works out eventually, or we can sign a proven pass rusher and hope to fill the need at running back in the draft.

We likely can't do both. And I would choose option 'B' as I think it's easier to replace that production with a rookie running back than to find the production from a rookie pass rusher.

I totally agree Stash and also think Ryan Williams tends to be overlooked but he's intriguing. I'm all in on a free agent signing on the defensive line at this point. To me it just makes sense considering where we are.

I just think we can get more 'bang for the buck' there than we can in re-signing Murray and drafting a rookie defensive end.

If I have my choice of DeMarco Murray re-signed and a rookie defensive end or signing Greg Hardy and drafting Todd Gurley at RB?

I know what my answer is. ( and Gurley actually being there at #27 is another debate)

I hope Murray comes back but, it's beginning to look as if he might get good money to leave. I still think Dallas will
get someone on the DL but, it's not going to be one of the top guys. In a week or two, you will see Dallas bring in
someone like Adrian Clayborn who is similar in nature to Mincey. Lots of upside if he can stay healthy. I've said
several times, just like other zoners, that the Boys are going to shop in the middle to lower middle of the barrel
this year for players and there's no use getting all worked up because a Hardy is not on Dallas list. There
is a plan at the Ranch and they are executing the plan.

Bring Melton back in, also I read in a comment section a week ago Hatcher was release. Can anyone confirm this ? I have not found any info in regards to this.

would all represent an upgrade at lde for me
jarvis jenins is 1 i feel could well be a good fit alongside crawford at dt and he would be very cheap.

I agree. Jacksonville is spraying around some crazy money right now, and if Parnell and Davon House can get $6 million a year, Murray should get at least $8 million from them.

So, 6 sacks then? As opposed to 15 sacks from a guy like Hardy. OK, as long as they understand what they are and aren't getting...

I've said several times, just like other zoners, that the Boys are going to shop in the middle to lower middle of the barrel this year for players and there's no use getting all worked up because a Hardy is not on Dallas list. There is a plan at the Ranch and they are executing the plan.

And I have said several times that you get what you pay for, and if they're dumpster diving, adjust expectations accordingly. And plan on being disappointed when we reach for the next Ebenezer Ekuban, Kavika Pittman, or Shante Carver because "we just had to have" a defensive end there because we didn't get one in free agency.

That's false, Hatcher was not released. Stephen Bowen was.

Is that confirmed?

Not "officially". Could change as in the last few minutes there has been a few Tweets that say there are other teams in the mix. I would assume Tampa is upping their money offer.
