in 2004, Dallas had Steven Jackson fall into our laps but NOOOOOOOO!

Dallas had to pick up an extra second round draft pick. So instead we dropped out of the first and picked Julius instead. And with our extra draft pick we took who again?

Jacob Rogers.

Steven Jackson had FOUR touchdowns for St. Louis today. On the year, Jackson has more than 2,100 combined yards and 12 TD's. Meanwhile, Jones has about 1,200 total yards and a whopping 4 TD's.

But, hey, we got a few games out of Jacob Rogers.

So it's all good.

That is the draft decision that will ultimately ruin Bills Dallas Cowboys tenure. If we had taken S.J. I think our line would look different IMHO and Spears hasnt been all that impressive either and Buffalo got a pretty good QB outta Losman, all from that stupid trade.

That is one of Jerry Jones' fatal flaws.

He has absolutely no sense of timing when it comes to extending players.

We made big mistakes on players like Larry Allen before and we did it again two times this year.

We can only hope he doesn't make the same mistake with Romo.

The franchise and transition player designations are around for a reason. It might be time we started exercising them.

He's probably working on extensions for Canty, Spears and Carpenter as we speak. He's a softie.

dude there wasnt a soul around when those extensions were given that thought it was a bad idea at the time.

I actually think they both can be very good players for us IN THE RIGHT SCHEME.

So are we suggesting that it would be wise to start over with fresh new players every year? Maybe the wise decision would be to actually scheme for your players strengths and keep players together to build some sort of cohesion.

By the way, there isn't a team out there that wouldn't love to have the likes of Roy Williams on their team. Don't kid yourselves.

the response to posts like this after games like today kill me.

maybe you guys should go back to the threads when those extensions happened and see how many of the posters agreed and apporoved of those decisions. quite lengthy for both players.

here is my question for you guys who suddenly want those players gone. who do you replace them with? where are you gonna fill our leading tackler and another top 5 tackler on the team, and our leading interceptor? where is it gonna come from? please enlighten me.

and can you imagine if we let roy williams go to free agency? cowboys fans would be screaming bloody murder.

as for julius jones, you people who have zero experience evaluating football talent kill me with your 8-ball wisdom 3 years after the fact. i'm not suggesting that i DO have experience in that matter, but i'm not the one pretending i knew more than our staff.

i'm not dissatisfied w/ jones at all.

besdies, you have to look at our rb's like a 3 headed monster b/c that's the way BP is playing it. jones has set up barber for short td's all season long. much like irvin for emmitt back in the day. so, yes, he doesn't have big numbers, but he's made it easier on MB3 to inflate his numbers. now, is MB3 better at short yardage? i'd say yes. but personaly, i don't care who scores. i just want to score. and we're scoring a bunch on the ground.

so, when you further consider one of the 3 heads got cut off due to injury, and look at the numbers of the 2, it's tough to be disapponited w/ the rb numbers.

and it's likely jones will have a longer shelf life than jackson. BP is totally wise in that regard.

and the last time i checked, mr. jackson isn't playing football again until september. so, he may have had a great season, but he wasn't so dominant that he got his team into the playoffs in a POOR conference.

I hate NFL draft day ever since Jimmy Johnson left. We make the worst decisions ever. When we passed on Jackson, I cringed. I have no faith in the Cowboys front office. Hire Jimmy!!

The trade was that dallas moved down into the 2nd round and took Julius Jones and picked up buffalo's 1st rounder the nextyear, which turned out to be Marcus Spears. The 2nd round pick that dallas used to take Jacob Rogers, they already had. Also remember that if dallas had not made the trade, and stayed where they were, they were going to take Kevin Jones, not Steven Jackson.

I thought Bradie's was too early. The guy had one decent year after being completely anonymous....

As I recall it, Jackson was pissed because he had PERSONALLY spoken with Bill and was told "You're our guy if you're there". When he was there and he passed us he was pissed off. Kevin Jones was just another option like anyone else, but Jackson was the main target. I'm as clear on that as I am my own name.

As for the poster who said that Jones will likely have a longer career than Jackson - based on what exactly can you make that ridiculous claim? And you can downplay Jackson staying home for the Playoffs all you like, but he gained nearly 900 more all-purpose yards this year than Jones and scored 8 more TD's so I'll take what DID happen over what you say MAY happen any day.
