Dallas played an Eagles team that boasts the absolute worst secondary in the league, with a DC that doesn't even have a year of experience. Not only do they give up the most air yardage of any team, they are the absolute worse team on third downs and they play a lot of man. That is a DISASTER in waiting playing against any team that boasts 3 all-pros on the OL and a guy like Lamb as your number 1 and Cooks as your third WR. The Eagles also commit multiple TOs on defense. This once again gave the fanboys some delusional, like the Vikings game last year, The Eagles were not anywhere near the second best team in the league despite what the record said and the 49ers proved it the week before. You are not containing guys like Lamb and Cook in man coverage when your OL is stifling the front.

This is the DUMBED-DOWN offense of McCarthy, who at the beginning of the season was saying "we scored too fast" and need to play more conservative, only to have to scrap that plan and run a bunch of go routes against man coverage with an OL that has been amazingly consistent all year giving Dak all day to throw. The seam route that Ferguson runs well, Dak has always thrown it on his first or second read well, whether with Witten or Schiltz. McCarthy has basically had Dak break the pocket after his SECOND read if nothing is there. It is basically a gimmick offense that is completely reliant on the fact Tyron Smith has been healthy all year and that dominant, allowing only 6 pressures and zero sacks before last night. Tyron Smith has been an absolute beat this year, especially alongside Tyler Smith.

This was the same exact story as Denver in 2021 and the same exact story going up against the 49ers each time. Dallas with Dak goes into the game averaging 35 PPG with a 6-1 record. Dak faces a team that essentially rushes 4 and plays heavy zone and deep cover 2 to take away the deep ball and contains him so he can't easily break pocket and Dak also has to play catch-up. Bills did a good job or rushing and preventing Dak from "bailing" and made him essentially a pocket QB once again. And what did he do? Poor pocket presence holding onto the ball, dinked and dunk and should have thrown 4 picks in reality. All 3 teams basically rushed 4. Even in the game last week there was a series where Eagles rushed 4 and dropped into coverage and Dallas was forced to punt. Teams don't need to bring extra rushers when they have a decent enough offense to get up with a quick lead against Dallas. Just make Dak play pocket QB...

Again, if Dallas extends Dak with this aging OL, especially with Tyron Smith at the end of his career, it will be an absolute nightmare for this organization. You could even see that when Martin went out, the Bills put an extra rusher on that side to test the right side, but they stopped doing it and were content with rushing 4.

This has been my biggest fear going into next season. I can easily seeing us as a bottom 10 team next season if this ends up happening.

Everybody wanted to make Tyron Smith a cut, because missing 3 games was a big deal. But this year proved how much of a HOF phenom he is. He is an absolute beast and maybe not playing over 10 plus games last year, gave him all this rest for him coming out like he has. I was watching him last night, outside that stunt, the guy was solid wall. The reality is, the OLs consistency has been the biggest asset for this offense and the secondaries we have been playing have been absolute TRASH. You are not going to find a guy like Smith that easily. The Chargers drafted Rashawn Slater who was a stud his first year, but he tore his bicep last year and hasn't been the same. Slater had no problems handling Micah as a rookie his first year, 1 on 1. Having Smith miss 3 games a season is worth it.

The other factor is we haven't played a real QBs (not counting Purdy as it's too early) until last night, all of them really had minimal experience. meaning Dak had ZERO worry about his defense allowing a lot of points. So any defense that goes up against this offense with a lead really just has to rush 4 and make Dak play pocket passer. And at this point in time, remember Dak is in year 8 and the first half of this season, he looked garbage. Year 8 is PRIME of a QB, not dumbing down an offense to your first two reads and then bail and try and make plays on your feet.

LOL.. shocking that the Dak haters have magically rediscovered their keyboard today.. The team got beat.. it happens.. On to the next game. Personally I think the flu got them way more than they were willing to admit this week. The lack of energy was too widespread to think otherwise. Need to keep a keen eye on their energy level next week though. If it's a repeat then yeah, this team aint ready for prime time.

Ronnie is a pretty reasonable poster my guess is he’ll be here to discuss things can’t say I blame him for letting the emotions die down if that’s what he’s doing

Every loss brings out the drama queen takes that this site has

I usually avoid game threads because this site is full of over reactive drama queens
Thanks.. To be clear I watched my daughter star as Marie in the Nutcracker yesterday so didn't get to watch the game live. She slayed.. apparently the team didn't.. I've seen a lot of talk on various platforms about lack of energy team wide. Makes me wonder if that flu bug was worse than they let on. We'll know more in Miami. I don't overreact after one game. Teams have bad days.. The Cowboys had one.. The last time they had one they played the best football in the NFL for 6 or 7 weeks. If they do that this team this season will end up right where we want it.

This is the team's 3rd real stinker this year on the road. It's not a one time thing. Don't kid yourself.

RonnieT needs to show up and defend this schit performance. MVP candidate my arse......
I don't defend poor performances.. nor do I overreact to them. Dak and the team apparently laid an egg yesterday. They have to own it and respond to it and bounce back. If they do that then all is well. If they continue to stink next week in Miami the sky will indeed be falling. Full disclosure I didn't get to watch the game live yesterday. My daughter was debuting in the starring role in the Nutcracker for the Oakland Ballet this weekend. She was amazing.. I will try to watch the game on demand later this week.. but from what I have seen in highlights and analysis it may not be necessary. They stunk. It happens.. On to the Dolphins.

Only way they extend Dak…he wins a Super Bowl.

Dallas isn’t even discussing an extension for Dak, or big Mike.

I think he’s a June cut in 2024.
lol..the letdown on this will be epic, the only question is will you be miserable with Dak as the QB for the next 3 or 4 years, seriously that is the only question about his contract its not "IF" its "How long will the extension be"..

Oh no one is kidding anyone. The Cowboys have failed to show up three times on the road this season. They need to get that figured out for sure. But it's not like it's not possible to do so. They just have to do it. Especially since it looks like their path in the playoffs will be all on the road.

It's getting late to be figuring out this issue still....

I have to think it's something about their travel regimen that needs to change. If it was one guy having a bad game I'd be less inclined to think that way but when the whole team shows up lacking energy for a big game there has to be something they are doing wrong. And don't get it twisted. NFL teams (or their fans) have been known to find out what hotel the opposing team is staying at and pull a middle of the night fire alarm or send tainted food over to their pregame meal. But to your point, yes it's late in the season.. but it's not out of the realm of possibility that they can do it.

Whatever it is, it's going to cost them in the post-season. They aren't fixing it this season and you can bank on that. They're getting bounced out in the Divisional round at the latest. It sucks. But it's not just about it being road games. If they're scored early on and get hit in the mouth, they wilt. For years we've seen that. Discipline goes out the window, the defense suddenly can't make stops, receivers can't get open. Dak goes into panic mode and the ball starts sailing. Players being sick? That's an excuse. They're not allowed to have excuses anymore. Playoff teams that win don't make excuses. They own their mistakes and correct them. The Cowboys correct them temporarily if at all.
