Lets Ponder the Patriots Deflationgate Issue

I read a stat that the Patriots has the lowest fumble rating in the NFL. Compared to the Cowboys which I believe is probably one of the highest fumble ratings in the league. Thus its safe to assume that this wasn't a one time occurrence and that it helped them with their fumbling issue or the lack of it there of.

Now go back to the Green Bay where Murray fumbled the ball. If we would have cheated maybe and quite possibly Murray holds onto that ball and scores on a TD to put Dallas ahead and makes it much harder for Green Bay to win.

If that happened and found out that Dallas cheated and it affected the game, would you all be okay with that?

Honestly, I wouldn't. I would be ashamed that my team cheated and that it affected us because Murray's fumble problems were solved by deflating the balls, making it easier for him to hold onto it.

Thus I believe Patriots should be punished severely. Worst than what the Saints got. I say 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounds and their coach banned for a year from talking the players.

Saints didn't cheat. Yet got punished. Patriots cheated and they've done it before. Thus they should be punished accordingly.

Haters gonna hate. Pats beat the Colts 45-7 and it wasn't because of no stinking deflated ball. This stupid deflate-gate is a manifestation of the press.

There is no way they are going to be able to prove anything, so they aren't going to be punished other than in the realm of public perception.

I agree it had no effect on the game, but if its found that the Pats are responsible for it don't you have to punish them? If there is no punishment for the petty stuff they will only push the envelope further. Its like kids stealing candy from a store. Really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but if not addressed it can snowball in to a much bigger issue.

Excuse me? Bounties are legel now?

Who got injured from it? Where was proof that the Saints injured someeone and paid a player for that injury. The Saints defense did nothing illegal just like any other team would do. Play hard, hurt them if you can, etc. Thats football. Heck, other teams were trying to hurt Romo. Why weren't those teams indicted or charged?

Its up for debate but bountygate is not cheating. It offered no advantage whatsoever to the Saints. It wasn't even in the rule books. Peyton didn't even know about it and he was the fall guy.

On the otherhand, Patriots cheated. It provided them with an advantage. It may not have been during the Colts game. But they might have been doing it for several years. Patriots have the least amount of fumbles in the NFL. If we would have cheated like the Patriots maybe Murray wouldn't have fumbled the ball.

What is there to ponder? The Colts balls were found to be in compliance in the same conditions. The Patriots were found to be under inflated after being certified by the officials, therefore not in compliance.

We'll see how it plays out

I think some of those with hangman nooses and pitchforks may be surprised.

17-7 with under inflated balls, 28-0 with regulation balls. The Colts did it.

It would really stink to have to deal with a tainted win

As a Yankees fan living in Maryland, I've had to live with the Jeff Maier/Jeter HR from the 1996 ALCS. It wasn't cheating per se, but that win has a huge asterisk that will never go away.

New England is also being punished publicly as evidenced by their being skewered on Saturday Night Live. Some great impersonations of mannerisms :):)

The score is completely besides the point.

Fact of the matter is it's looking more and more like the NFL has zero evidence against the Patriots. It's also being scientifically demonstrated (most recently by Carnegie Mellon) that a natural 2 psi drop in those conditions is perfectly plausible.

All the whining about "then why weren't the Colts balls underinflated?!?!" is ridiculous. Not only could they treat their balls differently, they also may have started higher than the Patriots started.

The NFL is coming to the realization that the Patriots did nothing wrong but they don't know how to handle it since there is so much faux outrage from the haters. People are demanding the death penalty for someone who, at worst, got caught doing 78 on PGBT.

Stay tuned.

No one talks about that game... They talk about their 4 World Series in five years. No one. Except you and baltimore fans lol

And like up I said it was cheating.

And... And.... And....

What the cowboys should have accomplished in the 90s instead the Yankees did.

3 in a row.... 4 in 5...

To stay in the range the NFL had the Colts balls could be no more than 1psi higher than the Patriots. the range was 12.5 to 13.5 psi. So using your own "scientifically demonstrated" drop the Colts balls would be no more than 11.5 psi at halftime and also under deflated, or they were over inflated and not in range before the game when they were checked. It does not take a scientific genius to do that math, you just choose not to see it.

For someone who independently verifies things you seem to really struggle seeing things beyond what you want to see (i.e. you fumbles totals and type from the other thread).

You literally have zero idea what the NFL has, so why not just wait and see.

Because he knows his team cheated.

There is no way in hell BB says the things he said yesterday if he is not 100% confidant that nothing was done to those balls after the check. Coming out like that and then having conflicting evidence come out would seal the fate of his legacy. I don't see even him relying on people keeping their mouths shut and there is no way he could know for sure there was no video evidence floating around. If he was counting on nobody spilling the beans then he just keeps quiet and hopes it blows over.

I did notice twice in the PC yesterday when he made sure to clarify "in this situation" when he made a statement about how the Patriots followed the letter of the rule to a T. That made me chuckle.

I don't like the guy and would like to see this be exposed as true just as much as the next guy. Not seeing it though.
