Let's Talk About Will Grier

When it comes to quarterbacks, I like me some underdogs, especially when we're talking about backups.

Cooper Rush was an underdog who manages to overcome the odds of being non-athletic and having a sub par arm.

I honestly see a higher potential in Grier as far as athleticism than Rush, and probably more pragmatic traits as a QB2 than Milton.

What I saw from Milton yesterday didn't give me much hope he can step in and be the guy unless they put a leash on him and he learns how to manage the game as a proverbial bus driver, which isn't a bad thing at all, especially when we're talking back ups.

My question is, who is QB2 on this team? And does Dallas keep 2 or 3 QBs?

Why?
Milton is No. 2 because Yoda loves to experiment with his picks. He hopes that one day Deuce, Mazi, Milton, Dak and Mingo will pan out.

I honestly think the Cowboys botched the Trey Lance acquisition so badly it may haunt the team.

He needed snaps. When they did he made plays and mistakes. Duh.

When they could give him more snaps, they gave them to a player that held the fort down to a **7-10** finish.

Now that player is a Baltimore Raven anyway. Lance got one start and played decently against a team that would appear in the NFC title game, and actually outplayed Daniels in that contest.

I mean you had the right backup.... now comes this stiff from New England that looked impossibly bad last night.

What are we doing?

Coming in last.

I think there are rolling buckets that have more athleticism than Rush.

Will Grier has a history of playing pretty well in the preseason, but continues to struggle to make 53 man rosters. For that reason alone I'm hesitant to jump on the bandwagon. I'm hoping we see a 180 out of Milton these next couple games, or the backup QB position is going to be a massive concern for me.

It certainly happens sometimes, but its very rare that a QB finally puts it all together after hitting 30 years old.
Granted it was 2019, but he threw 50 passes in two starts and had 4 INTs. Could be that there is something missing between the eara that doesnt show up in preseason

Lance threw 5 ints in a preseason game last year, and we were still in the playoff chase when Dak went down. Not playing Lance was absolutely the right call. You dont play guys just to give them reps while you are still alive for a playoff birth. We weren't eliminated until after week 16.

I hope Buffalo lets Mike White go.

1. dak
2. mike white
3. milton.

Mike White had a golden opportunity in New Yawk to take the job and nothing came of it . I am seriously in the camp of not wanting guys you’ve already given up on for whatever reason . Elliott exibit A . Never wanted Amari Cooper or Beasley to return either .

Will Grier is a former 3rd round pick in 2019 and is now 30 years old. He's been on several teams and has done nothing of note.
I'm just wondering. Has he ever got a chance? I mean, I get it that he probably is not a full time starter in the NFL. But is he a guy that can get through a few games if the starter goes down short term ala Rush? He was drafted in 2019 and played in two games as a rookie with pretty bad results. And then....that's it. He has never got into an NFL game since then despite bouncing around all this time. I'd say don't dismiss him until he proves he can't do it. Heck, Rush bounced around a lot before showing that he could at least drive the bus.

You want to have a safe backup. You also want to find or develop the next superstar.

Jerry just doesn't know how to do it.

I definitely trust grier More than Milton for #2 at this point.
My thing with Milton is you want to keep it simple for him.

When he tries to do too much he gets sloppy.

They really need to simplify the complexity of the offense with him, and I think he'd be better.

There's a guy here, Tennessee fan, and he despises Milton. I think that says a lot .

The one game he looked decent in, it looks like simpler reads and play progressions.

Rush is faster than Brady.

Brady played catcher and quarterback in high school.

Couldn’t hurt Brady’s situational awareness.

Will Grier had a 59 mph radar gun, while Dakota Prescott threw 54 mph.

Which traits make an upper tier NFL quarterback?

Milton registered 62 mph!

Call a vet QB and rent a one year back up.

Put Milton on the Practice Squad, or just release him.

Keep Grier on speed dial just in case.

Why are we making final decisions from ONE preseason game???????
I think our QB coach said best, Milton has to learn to play with his head, not his arm, and you see that. He needs to settle down, take what the defense gives him.

Grier ain't it people...............6/7 coaches have let him walk.
