Let's Talk About Will Grier

Milton will be the back up because we didnt give up a 5th round pick to cut him or have him be poached on the practice squad. This will be regardless of how well Grier performs.

My biggest question for Will Grier is can he drive the bus.

Based on the small sample size so far, I like Grier over Milton.

I like when Dak called Grier's last game as Cowboy as a QB, and he diced up the other team.

His contract isn’t GTD.

We could use the 1M in cap space.

Dude can’t throw.

I don't have strong feelings about Grier one way or another, but I firmly believe a team should have 3 QB's: The starter, the seasoned vet, and the developmental QB. Too often Dallas has tried to get away with just two- the logic being the 3rd QB is unlikely to win anything and you can always bring someone in. The temptation is to use that 3rd spot for a player more likely to play and help. Flawed thinking, and shows Dallas's lack of commitment to the position. New rules now though. Milton looked awful BTW....Lance at least looked the part.

Develop Milton

His issue is what we all know …he has a futuristic Cannon from the year 3000

But The targeting system is from the year 1348
Lol
Ok....futuristic canon year 3000
Ok...1348 targeting system

? What is his Control system? Commodore 64?

Regardless how bad Milton looked the other night, he still has a lot higher ceiling than 30 year old Will Grier. I can’t imagine any fans are interested in watching him play. With that being said he looks more ready to win a game than Milton. If Milton doesn’t perform better next week, the Cowboys are going to have to make a tough decision. If they go with Grier as the backup that will limit the progress of Milton. Would much rather see him take over for an injured Dak than Grier. We need to be developing a young QB.

If you are talking the initial 53, I think we only carry 2 QB, and Grier isn't one of them. He's not in high demand, so he probably doesn't get picked up, so he goes to the PS.

Milton is just now scratching the surface of what he's left to become with proper training. Let's be patient and allow him what any rookie deserves to improve his game. He might be entitled to do what many inexperienced rookie QBs do to improve their mental approach and their nerves. Time will be required in the meantime. Milton is very raw and needs time.

Many QBs often take years to improve sufficiently to start. In the meantime, Will Grier might be counted upon to fill the void. Let's just hope things work out well, in due time. Does Dak have another year or two to finish out his career? Maybe we'll have to see about that. I won't be counting on Jerry to draft another QB anytime soon. It takes guts.

Many said the same thing about Trey Lance and we gave up a 4th round pick for him. Most thought he would end up the backup but he didn’t play well in preseason. They may do what they did last season and keep three QBs on the roster. It’s going to be difficult to go with Milton as the backup if he plays poorly next Saturday. I’m hearing that Grier may get the entire third preseason game so Milton needs to play much better on Saturday. The last time the Cowboys allowed Grier to play the final preseason game he lit it up.

I hope Buffalo lets Mike White go.

1. dak
2. mike white
3. milton.
I like Mike White. I’d like White then put Milton as the QB3 and develop him and not make him emergency QB Ala Lance. This is of course if he doesn’t improve.

I do think let’s wait for the preseason to continue before making any definitive conclusions on QB2.

I’m still excited we have Milton as the developmental QB. If he plays this year then something really weird or bad has happened. I’m happy with his potential and time to develop him. He’s still my favorite acquisition of the offseason, but not for this season but what he potentially can become. And we got him basically for free. I’m not concerned about 1 bad preseason game because with Milton we’re playing the long game. Realistically Dak is playing at least 2 more years and by that time we’ll know what Milton is. If he sucks draft someone, if he develops then we got a steal. I see no harm is churning the bottom of the roster to find a QB while Dak is under contract.

The potential is there. He just has to settle in and do what he does. I think he can be a legit QB2.

Me too, I think with some coaching and get him getting comfortable. He played better in the second half. He had a nice touch pass in the end zone

I can see by Jerry's recent words that he's fully prepared to allow Milton to be developed properly and deserves time to replace Dak when the time comes. This FO doesn't have the daring to draft a potential replacement anytime soon -- that much seems quite apparent at this juncture. I have hope that Milton will improve enough to be a decent backup and possibly even start in due time. We'll see about that.

Should have just paid Lance.
