Let's Talk Da Bears

I don't think Urlacher can cover Witten. Good point on Mark Anderson.

What about TO, Fasano, Crayton, and Hurd? Do you think the Bears can stay fresh enough while we are rotating people?

If we can keep the D on the field it could get real interesting.

Zach thomas did a really good job on witten sunday, I would imagine urlacher will do the same thing.

Witten forced a couple of balls giving witten a chance to make big plays when he had fasano open. I think in the flow of the game he knew he could take those chances, I would imagine this week he checks down to fasano.

Not sure what Natl TV has to do with it but that was last year and their D has changed and so has our team as well, especially adding JG as our OC...

Well-Harris and Brown didn't play in the Saints game, and they still smacked them.(subsequently making a blueprint on how to stop the Saints' potent O)

I read on the Bears' MB that Greg Olsen will be back-whether or not Newman is playing, they're nonetheless going to have alot of weapons(Berrian, Olsen, Clark, etc)

Our matchups with Harris will also be interesting.

And the Giants and Saints have shown everyone that they are exactly who we thought they were. That Seahawks game wasnt convincing, the Bears won it by the skin of their teeth. Fantastic, who cares.

I believe he was talking about the wk 4 NBC game(where the Bears won 37-6).

Hey, they're gonna be tough but still very beatable. They still have Rex getting them the ball and I like our chances there...

Oh man, I would luv to see BU covering Witten deep. I'd take that matchup downfield. I know BU is fast but being fast and covering deep is 2 different things. They better have a safety on Witten deep.

I don't think Urlacher can cover Witten.

Not only do I think Urlacher can cover Witten, I also think he could play his position and have pretty decent results.

The problem is that Urlacher is only one man and can't cover everyone. Sure, their D is talented but we've got too many weapons to worry about. I think Julius will have a big game because our O-line will overpower them over time.

Their offense will be easily contained. My biggest fear is Hester.

If we contain Him, we win.

I think this game will be a good test for our offensive line.

I think you said it best...the Bears defense is going to force us to pass the ball and it will be up to Romo to stay patient and calm under pressure

I was referring to their regular season game where they killed the Seahawks. I'm just saying not to underestimate the Bears.

Well if you want to crown their azzzzzz.. Uhh never mind.

I think the key to this game will be the screen pass to J. Jones. I can see us getting huge chunks of yards from this. The Bears have very active front seven and I can see them getting burn by Julius from the screen.

I think if we can score 14 or more and limit the turnovers to 1 maybe 2 we will be in good shape. The bears fans need to realize they have a huge liability at QB. We will need to win the rushing game and keep their defense on the field and tire them out. Keep the ball out of Hester's hands. Play solid D, bringing lots of pressure and forcing bad throws out of Rexy.

From my perusing of various Internet message forums, I've concluded that most fans think their teams match up well with the Bears...largely because their offense is so pedestrian. Regardless of team affiliation, fans everywhere all posit the same formula for beating Chicago: Avoid kicking to Hester and turning over the ball, and Grossman will eventually deliver the game to his opponent.

I grant you it's a very simple yet reasonable theory, but I think the reality of the situation is a trifle more complex; otherwise, the Bears would be 5-16 since 2006 rather than 16-5.

In truth, Grossman is probably not as inept as we make him out to be; his offense scored 27 points against Seattle in an NFC divisional playoff game and 39 against New Orleans in the NFC Championship game.

Unfortunately, the Bears' formula for victory is probably less complicated than the Cowboys': If Rex can avoid a deluge of untimely turnovers, his team probably wins.

Having said that, I'm still a shameless homer so I'll take us by the following score:

Cowboys 24
Bears 17

:D

Yeah, no kidding about losing a close game in a conservative way. My family thought I was giving birth during close games when we played "Parcells" football over the past few years.

We called a pass to TO on a 4th and 5?!? Are you freaking kidding me? No way that Parcells would have ever allowed that call, but I like it!!!!!

Giving birth hahahahahh :lmao2:

My family thought I was possessed...

That 4th and 5 was a thing of beauty and I bet every fan said no way BP calls that play.

If TNew plays I think we beat them by a pretty good margin and if he doesn't it will probably be a close game.

Uh, you might want to go back and see how many of those points the chicago defense accounted for in those games, it might have been more than 'his offense'

Gates had 9 catches for over 100 yards and a TD against the Bears, but I think they use him more like a receiver than a TE. Gonzalez had 4 for about 50. Hopefully Witten falls follows along Gates' numbers.

That to me is the KEY to this game. The Bears defense is ranked dead last (i believe) against TEs. I'm predicting this game to be similar to the first game, in that we will go to Witten and to some extent to Fasano eaRrly in the game to force them to adjust thier coverage and then go to the outside recievers.

Rex is horrible but one thing he does well is throw the deep ball which scares the bujezus out of me. The front seven have to get a lot of pressure on Rex and get him rattled so he can make those stupid decisions that we all know he is cabale of making.

I would think the game plan for the Bears will be pretty simple. Ball control and field position. I figure the Bears are not going to put together many 80 yard drives. For them to have success they have to establish field position and defensively try and create turnovers. Lastly the Bears offense can't afford turnovers something they tend to have problems with.

In the Seattle game, the Bears defense forced one turnover but did not actually score. Rex, however, threw a 68 yard touchdown pass to Bernard Berrian, and Thomas Jones scored twice on runs of 9 and 7 yards. Rex did throw one interception and the Bears fumbled 4 times, losing 1...yet still emerged victorious.

It's not my contention that Rex is great or even adequate. I'm only saying that, if the Cowboys are to win this game, they can't simply wait around, hoping Rex will hand it to them.

The offense will need to do more than just avoid turnovers; it well need to maintain drives and score. And I'm confident Jason Garrett will devise a gameplan capable of doing just that.

This game scares me. A lot.

I see lots of deep balls to Berrian. I see Romo throwing into traffic too often. I see the DL getting worn down by the Bears running game.

Dallas can beat anyone if they bring their A game, but it's a road game and the Bears match up well against the 'boys. I'll be pleasantly surprised if Dallas pulls it out.
