I think we all liked the way he played, great against the run and good push up the middle, but Ratliff has taken it up a notch. He is effective on the run as well and gets an even better pass rush.

We don't know if this is going to stay this good, or if Fergy would have done the same in this scheme, but I think with the developments in Miami this will be thought of.

How much longer is on his contract, and is there a chance we can do business with a team like Miami? Could he be cut to save cap room? I would personally like to keep him, but with he, Ratliff and Tank all at the same position, I don't know if all that cap is well allocated.

With the $$$ he is scheduled to make next year, I believe he is all but gone.

He will start at DT next year with Tank behind him. Ratliff will start at RDE with Spears behind him. Fergy is too good to let go and his salary is not over the top.

Are you serious? Canty is playing very well - we would sooner bench Spears than Canty.

My bad, I meant LDE in front of Spears.

but I will say it again, a line of Ratliff, Ferg and Canty would be downright dominating

Agree, though I ask, who do you take out on passing downs to put in Hatcher? Canty? Move Ratliff inside and put Hatcher back strong side?

you bring in Hatcher for Canty, like we are doing now

Canty is average rushing the passer

When did this start? I was pretty sure I've been seeing Hatcher coming in for spears.

Either way it shows how effective Canty and Spears are versus the pass.
Canty actually stays in on pass-rush personnel packages. This is one of the reasons Hatcher doesn't get much time. The position he backs up (LDE) comes out on those downs.

I'm guessing they keep Ferg to platoon with Tank at NT, move Ratliff to DE opposite Canty, and dangle Spears.

Still, it sure is nice to have depth. Love the different schemes we can drum up.

We'll take a bigger cap hit cutting him than keeping him.

Thankfully, Fergy ISN'T going anywhere next year. :)

Nice. This D is only the beginning. Hell, this TEAM is just the beginning. I feel bad for the rest of the league.

Ok, I'm lying....No I dont. Not at all.

No, we would save about $2.4 million by cutting him ($5.6 to keep, $3.2 to cut).
