No, we would save about $2.5 million by cutting him.

Lol damn. I have to say I think I will trust you on this one.
2.5 isn't that much though, and for a solid, fresh D-line, I think he's worth it.

Didn't Parcells wanted to draft Spears with that 11th pick instead of Ware? If he still got the man love for Spears, lets send Spears, Carp (another Parcell love) along with Cleveland's 1st for the #1 overall.............

Are you listening Bill? I am gonna give you those picks you love so much..... in fact, I will even throw in Fasano if you give me a 3rd rounder in return. Oh, hell, just take Fasano and give us the number 1 already.:laugh2: :laugh1:

Either way-he IS our best DL, despite Ratliffe surprising the heck out of everyone this year.

I hope we keep him for that reason, he's worth it.

Well that's debatable even when he was in top form.

I think Fergy is gone...that 2.5 mil will come in very handy down the line IMO, especially with the people we need to get signed.

Is it safe to say now that Spears is offically a bust?

I still have hope for Carp:D

I think so.

I personally would love to keep fergy, but I would prefer to use his cap space elsewhere if we can. I'm happy with Ratliff and Tank if need be.

no madden trades. while spears hasn't lived up to potential, he's a solid player versus the run and I wouldn't trade him cause his salary is very manageable. Carpenter on the other hand just has too little value to trade.

some truth here...and i remember reading somewhere that all teams have players like Ayodele and Spears...solid if not stars...otherwise you'd be in salary cap hell and we all know what that means:bang2:

I swear, you guys make me nuts. A guy has to have 7-12 sacks to be labeled a good draft pick. They can't just be a solid player, they have to be a star. You do realize he was not a top ten pick don't you!!!!:bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

I would keep Fegie and dangle Spears instead.

I'm guessing they keep Ferg to platoon with Tank at NT, move Ratliff to DE opposite Canty, and dangle Spears.

No one wants to hear about your dangle.

I think Fergie stays one more year, at least. It's not unreasonable to think he sticks around even with a high cap number. Everyone thought Al Singleton was a a goner due to his $4m salary, but they kept him anyway and he served as a nice insurance policy when Ellis went down.

If nothing else, Fergie has some trade value, even as an older player. NTs are hard to come by, so I could actually almost see him going to Miami. Can't think of who's on their line at the moment.

i think fergy goes back to the nt, and tank backs him up. remember tank is only signed for one more year and i don't think you want to put all you faith in him just yet.
we have plenty of cap to keep them all and still sign the important guys we need too.
the only real, and expensive question is flo, and being as we don't get to see his backup any we just don't know there

His STRENGTHS are being a RUN STUFFER-he does an excellent job clogging up the middle in this respect, which was why I was gasping for air the minute ESPNews said his season was done way back in wk1.

BTW-Vince Wilfork, Jamaal Williams, and Casey Hampton, other true 3-4 NTs, don't get alot of sacks either.

I was talking about Spears, because some said in a previous post that he was a bust.
