Let's talk offensive line needs

It seems as though we have done a better job of protecting Romo this year, but we still can't run the ball like we really want to. The line does appear serviceable but that's not really good enough. I still think we need another guard. even if Waters returns. In upgrading the offensive line do you think the bigger need is at guard or tackle? Do we need both?

Need both but the defensive line is more important in the 2014 draft. If they can get Waters back and utilize Free for one more season, they can then work on it in the 2015 draft.

For the upcoming draft, they need to draft all defense with maybe a guard mixed in somewhere.

I'd like to think Leary can progress after his 1st year starter, however, I worry about it's congenital knee condition.

Gotta keep plugging away at the offensive line. As decent as they've played this year, the only 2/5 pieces are promising.

Keep getting guards. I think we can get away with a serviceable RT for now as long as guard play is still great. It's easier to help an RT out.

Knowing our GM, though, he'll be unwilling to keep committing to it. DL takes precedence, but we can't forget that the OL still needs improvement.

No, we don't. Bern has been a top 20 rated OG this year and he was on the friggin bench.
It would be REALLY nice to get Waters back next year for a full season but that's ALL this team needs on the OL.
A 3rd or 4th round OG is a value? Cool. Take him.
But that isn't a need and isn't likely to be a player who plays much.

If it were me, I would go heavy. And I mean tonnage. 5 players Ol or DL. Maybe find a cover guy late and a LB late. No TE, WR, RB or DE. We can work with what we have at those spots. If Kiffin stays and we run the 4-3, need some guys Nevis' size on the interior.

Size is not the answer on the DL. There has to be disruptive players, especially on the interior. You know, what everyone pretended we had this offseason.

I would like to see an OLineman drafted early. Either a big nasty Guard or there appear to be a lot of OL in this draft that could play OT or OG.

Leary has played well considering that he had zero experience coming into the year. Bernadeau has played much better recently but will never be a great player.

The problem is that they have Zero depth at Guard. Costa is the only interior backup and he is really just a Center.

The OL took a step up this year. Of course, it almost had to considering where it was at. We should be on the lookout for Gs and a RT.

So if one of the current starters goes down who have we got to replace him that's in anyway likely to be good?

We have so many holes on this team that the first two rounds should be BPA.

Forcing a pick rarely ever turns out well.

not surprising you miss the obvious. Bernie has how many years in the NFL and he has been INCONSISTANT in every one. But you drink the kool aid and think everything has changed. Sad.

We do. Waters may not be back and he's certainly not a given to even play well if he does. You don't know how much football Leary has left. Bernadeau is a career backup. You don't settle for him.

Pretty much this. The defensive line, safety need to be addressed in almost all of our picks. Maybe one offensive lineman but if we draft anything other than defense I don't know what I'll do. I can't take another draft seeing us drafting another RB, WR, TE, CB.
