Lewis had surgery last night?

Let’s tap the brakes here. I know you said you rather have Lewis. But still. Let’s relax a bit. Lewis is damn good. Bland is a lot of unknown.
 
Feel bad for him, I've always liked him and thought he was better than most did. His only knock was being a little short would sometimes hurt him. I like Bland too and have high hopes for him. But regardless of how well Bland may or may not play, our secondary just took a hit. Now we're only 1 injury away from Bossman Fat starting at CB. That's scary to me.
 
Lewis is awesome y’all are crazy. That’s a bad injury he’ll be out a year if not forever

I said I’d rather have Lewis because I’d rather have Lewis.

That doesn’t change what I saw from Bland in the preseason though. I watched (and re-watched) him very closely and my opinion is that he’s going to play pretty well with Lewis out.

I’ve been wrong before but when a guy looks that solid in his rookie preseason and then in a regular season game, he can usually play. He showed exceptional football IQ IMO, which is the biggest thing in playing well as a rookie.

He’ll have some ups and downs, but my expectations for him are fairly high. Here’s hoping I’m right.

We can hope so. I expect at least competent play from Bland. He makes mistakes but he learns quickly from them and he understands the game and how the secondary as a whole is supposed to play. And he has physical tools that are top drawer.

It’ll be interesting to see how he does. He certainly played pretty well in spot duty for Lewis earlier this season.

Based on his play rest of the yr, will determine if Lewis returns next season.

Probably so.

I hope the coaches have him working on locating the ball and playing it instead of the receiver, because that was the biggest weakness that I noticed with him. He was always in perfect position but didn’t locate the ball.

These coaches are good with that so I’m sure they’ve been working on that.

If Bland does that well, then I think he’ll do just fine.

That was the issue with Marinelli, the likes of Awuzie, Bryon were good shadow corners, but struggled finding the football. Brown has gotten better in this area with the new staff, let's hope Bland does the same.
 
Lewis name hasn't come up much this year. Being a CB that is usually a good thing. It means the teams aren't throwing his way as much in man coverage. He is are best man coverage CB so his loss will be felt in some ways.
