Its called showing Callahan the door.

Same as Ryan last year.

At least when they make mistakes now..

the team is acting quickly to fix it.

Used to take 10 years to get changes like this.

As if moving Ryan and going to 4-3 was a good idea? Talk about an epic flop. We can move around asst coaches all we want but it will amount to nothing until we find a new HC that can bring in a competent staff to utilize weapons.

If Callahan leaves, does his zone blocking scheme go with him? Or do we keep running it? That's what allowed us to have our first 1,000 yard rusher since Julius jones

They'll keep it. Frank Pollack did a good job. Doesn't really effect the passing style and they can still run man plays along with it. A lot of teams run both.

That is a great question.

Detroit ran a power man scheme last season, that was supposedly one of the reasons we did not have Warford on our draft board.

Haha. You couldn't write this sort of bass-ackwards thinking. Can't draft a guy cause he fits a different scheme....following season move to the scheme that drafted him.

This team has no rudder at all.

We draft players specific to our schemes.. And then we fire the coaches who implement those schemes. This leaves us paying players that we can't utilize to their full potential. They need to keep this in mind when leaving guys off the draft board.

I like the zone blocking scheme and want it to stay. It fits Murray's running style well, make one cut and get upfield. He's excelled at it. Callahan has done well with the oline. Let him focus his efforts on oline. Linehan call plays, and JG perform head coach duties. It makes sense if that is indeed how they split up offensive duties.

I just hope we don't have too many "chiefs"

That was last year Alexander. This year the ZBS is being eschewed for the power man scheme.

Just last like year the switch from man CB coverage to zone coverage.

It's good to play the team in lots AND lots of schemes on a year to year basis. It makes them well rounded. ;)

From what I've seen he's gonna be the pass game voord. Who's gonna be the run game coord.? I think that will tell us if we keep the xone scheme or not

@RapSheet: The #Cowboys were so sure they were going to hire Scott Linehan today that he took part in meetings. Basically joined the staff on the fly

Why didn't we draft this pro bowl G again?

That's right. He didn't fit our current scheme at that time.

What a sound draft strategy.

Ok?
So you disagree? You think firing ryan and moving to 4-3 was a good idea? You think changing asst coaches will solve our problems?

Yes i think firing Ryan was a good idea. The guy wouldnt even talk to his DB coach anymore. This was all known and talked about. And yes i think bringing in Linehan will be a good thing. bring back a more vertical passing game will do wonders.

The problem is changing schemes like you change underwear instead of allowing what might be working to develop.

It seems like we give Jason Garrett and his "process" season after season, but keep changing schemes with the coordinators in some vain attempt to make the original decision work somehow.

lol, they should all be well groomed for head coaching positions once Garrett retires in 2029.

Hardly. We had a 1000 yard rusher simply because we didn't spread around the rushing attempts as we have over the last several seasons. We ran for fewer yards in 2012 and 2013 than in any season since 1990.

It was not any more "known" or "talked about" than the idea that Callahan would be upset with the addition of Linehan today that was dismissed as nothing but the evil media stirring up drama around here.

But since Ryan is gone, it somehow validates that speculation. I see how that works out for everyone.
