Linehan's thought process must go something like this:

They are thinking that I am thinking x so I would do Y, but they may be on to that way of thinking, so I'll run a really stupid play that has very little chance of succeeding, because that's the last thing they will be expecting.

The problem is teams have figured out he would run something stupid and they are playing for stupid
He can even get stupid right
